Everything is Definitely Bigger in Texas Vol. 3

In the last volume of this series, we discussed three talented players from the Central Texas area that have the prototypical height players that college coaches love to have on their rosters. Since Texas has it’s fair share of players over 6 feet tall, I figured I would keep a series of articles highlighting these players. We are going to bounce back to the Houston Area as there are no shortage of players over the six-foot mark there. Without further ado, here are the players in volume 3:

[caption id="attachment_92091" align="alignright" width="224"] Photo Credit: Houston Skyline[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="87474" first="Allie" last="Sczech"] [2022] 6-4 Right Side (HS: George Ranch/Club: Houston Skyline/ Verbal: Baylor)

Allie comes in ranked as the #9 top volleyball player for the 2022 class in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig rankings. The six foot four left-handed Right Side attacker from George Ranch High School has verbally committed to Baylor University. She is a dominant force at the net for her Houston Skyline club team. Her formidable size is the first thing people see on the other side of the net. I see a very skilled volleyball player. As a lefty, she is able to hit all options on the right side of the court very well. She shows off her skills by regularly hitting first and second tempos in serve receive play sets. She is absolutely unstoppable when her setter is running toward the left side of the court and decides to go against flow to Allie. There is a one on one situation for her and everyone can see what is coming. A kill. The Big 12 Conference and Baylor will be getting a great young lady to represent their volleyball program.

Jordan Gamble [2022] 6-2 Middle (HS: Katy/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)

I have moved up Jordan very quickly in to the top 40 according to our Prep Dig rankings. I can’t say exactly where until the new rankings come out in June but I think she is a star on the rise. The Katy High School middle is a force to be reckoned with. Standing at six foot two, she is a gamer. She excels at all levels and tempos regularly hitting a high tempo out of serve receive on the left and she scores at will there. She runs all quick tempos out of the middles as well and she does a great job with the timing. She hits with a lot of power right out of the setter’s hands. She is a true prototypical middle for a college program. I’m excited to cover her for the next couple of years. She has a bright future ahead of her.

[caption id="attachment_92093" align="alignright" width="229"] Photo Credit: SportsRecruits - Houston Juniors[/caption]
[player_tooltip player_id="87493" first="Sophia" last="Agee"] 6-1 Outside (HS: St. Agnes Academy/Club: Houston Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Sophia comes in ranked as the 29thbest volleyball player in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig rankings in the class of 2022. She plays for the vaunted volleyball club out of H-town, Houston Juniors. They are nationally known and regularly place volleyball players at the next level. Her school team, St. Agnes Academy has regularly won their district and gone deep into the state playoffs in their TAPPS league. She is a six-rotation player who stars for her team both in the back row and front row. She is a pure passer out of serve receive in every rotation. I love the way she holds her form after contact. She is one to watch as she would be able to make any college team better in any position. I am excited to cover this young lady as she blossoms under the great training at HJV.

Be on the lookout for the rest of this series as we tap into more players who are blessed to be tall and play with such great skills. Stay tuned for more players in our next article. If you have any other players you think we should highlight, please email me at nov8vb@yahoo.com.
