Everything is Definitely Bigger in Texas Vol. 4

In the last article we discussed three talented players from the Houston area that are prototypical height players that college coaches love to have on their rosters. Since Texas has it’s fair share of players over 6 feet tall, I figured I would add some from every class in this volume. Without further ado, here are the players in volume 4.

[player_tooltip player_id="87422" first="Jordyn" last="Williams"] [2021] 6-2 Middle (HS: Guyer/Club: Texas Advantage/ Verbal: Kentucky)

Jordyn is the 34thranked prospect in the 2021 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. After helping lead her TAV club to a second place finish in last years USA volleyball Junior Nationals Open division, she had a stellar junior season with her State ranked Denton Guyer School. She has a verbal commitment to SEC Champion Kentucky which she will attend in a few years. She is a dominant force at the net for both her school and club teams. She runs a mean slide behind her setter and scores at will with it. Her power is feared by her opponents as she swings on every attack with so much force. I like the way she uses her footwork to make sure that she is utilizing momentum behind every swing. Kentucky is getting a good one to stay atop the SEC for the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id="87483" first="Kennedi" last="Bray"] [2022] 6-2 Middle/Outside (HS: McNeil/Club: Roots/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Kennedi’s very lengthy frame allows her to be very versatile at the net for her school and club teams. She can play anywhere along the net. Roots volleyball club, formerly Eclipse, uses her primarily in the middle. She runs a very nice quick set in front of her setter at a pretty fast tempo. Because of extremely long arms, she scores at a good clip with it. She is able to hit both cut and cut back with the 51 set. We have her ranked as the 18thtop prospect in the 2022 class due to her versatility. She has a tough jump serve and is able to play back row after very well. She has a very high ceiling in the sport and we are excited to watch her grow as a player over the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id="87545" first="Kate" last="Hansen"] [2023] 6-2 Middle (HS: Weatherford /Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)

While the 2023 class is young, players like Kate certainly have my attention. I’m sure she will have the attention of college coaches soon once volleyball resumes. She is a dominant force as a freshman middle in the Dallas area. The most notable aspect of her game will definitely be her power on her attacks. They will never go unnoticed. Myself, I am very intrigued more so by her footwork. It is beyond her years to be able to move like that in transition off the net and toward her setter. I have Kate ranked as the 18thranked prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She has the ability to move up those rankings quite a bit with the future I see for her. Coaches take note of her now as she won’t be a secret long.

Be on the lookout for the rest of this series as we tap into more players who are blessed to be tall and play with such great skills. Stay tuned for more players in our next article. If you have any other players you think we should highlight, please email me at nov8vb@yahoo.com.
