Here are five 3rd Region defensive specialists to watch.
Kendal Goetz: A junior defensive specialist, Goetz is a student-athlete from Daviess County High School. Goetz was a key player for Daviess County throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, recording 281 digs in 29 matches. An underrated player, Goetz is a solid communicator who routinely displays athleticism.
Emma Hurst: A sophomore defensive specialist, Hurst is a student-athlete from Hancock County High School. Hurst emerged as a leader for Hancock County during the 2019 prep volleyball season, recording 313 digs in 30 matches. A precise passer, Hurst is quick and reads blocks accurately.
Bailey Richardson: A junior defensive specialist/libero, Richardson is a student-athlete from Grayson County High School. Richardson was among the leaders for Grayson County in 2019, registering 221 digs in 29 matches. Agile and comfortable playing both defensive specialist and libero, Richardson has shown tenacity and the ability to dig regularly.
Jersie Rhineburger: A junior defensive specialist, Rhineburger is a student-athlete from Owensboro High School. A leader for Owensboro throughout the 2019 high school volleyball season, Rhineburger logged 349 digs, 45 service aces and 41 assists in 35 matches. Rhineburger is a stellar server and a productive passer.
Abby Spong: A sophomore defensive specialist, Spong is a student-athlete from Apollo High School. Spong, one of the most talented underclassmen in the 3rd Region, posted 190 digs for Apollo in 2019. Another underrated player, Spong is highly communicative, covers the floor well and
