The red division has an extensive list of sophomores who contributed to their teams in 2019. Who will be ready to take a huge step in 2020? Here are some of the athletes we believe will have standout seasons.

Chloe Reese - MH - North Kansas City High School

Arguably no team had as great a turn-around in 2019 than North Kansas City. They won the division title last year and return many important pieces. One of them is Reese, the 5’10" middle hitter for the Hornets. In her sophomore season, she had 160 kills. She could potentially double those numbers in 2020.

Yanni Washington - MH - North Kansas City High School

Another important front line player for the Hornets, Washington is expected to raise her game in her junior year. Last year saw her contribute 135 kills and 113 digs. Her athleticism should allow her to raise her block numbers from the 19 she added a year ago.

Sophia Rodriguez - OH - Oak Park High School

The sophomore played quality sets for Oak Park in 2019. The team struggled to find wins, but that should change as Rodriguez returns for her junior season. Last fall, she had 85 kills for the year. In her limited back-row play, she added 75 digs to her resume.

[player_tooltip player_id="102458" first="Alex" last="Dvorak"] - MH - Park Hill South High School

Dvorak has been a staple in the Panthers lineup since her freshman season. The 6’0" middle is a force at the net. Last year, her stat line included 164 kills while hitting a .266 hitting percentage. Defensively, she added 83 blocks to lead the team. After losing all-state teammate [player_tooltip player_id="41676" first="Rachel" last="Francis"], look for a major increase in her numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id="102449" first="Keegan" last="Good"] - L - Park Hill South High School

Good had major shoes to fill after losing two key back-row defenders. She stepped up to the challenge and became one of the top defenders in the state. In her first varsity season, she had 464 digs. She also passed in serve/receive 445 times.

Kalia Morris - L - Staley High School

Staley has enjoyed the benefit of having Morris in the lineup since her freshman season. As a sophomore, she added 209 digs for the Falcons. In serve/receive, she received it 424 times on the year. Her junior season could be a breakout year.
