It’s not always to top athletes or the highly recruited kids that have the biggest impact on how well their team performs. Issaquah’s [player_tooltip player_id="96980" first="Sadie" last="Bacon"] and Abbie May are the top ranked Kingco athletes in the Prepdig.com class of 2021 rankings, but these players might have a bigger individual role to play if their team is going to challenge for the league title.

[player_tooltip player_id="97018" first="Emmi" last="Foltz"], Setter/Right Side, North Creek
At 5’ 10" tall Foltz faces a tall order in stepping in and helping to orchestrate an offense that includes fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id="97022" first="Mallory" last="Swenson"] and the 2019 Kingco Player of the Year Kylene Filimaua who will be a sophomore. She faces a trial by fire with difficult matches against Snohomish, Bothell and Lake Stevens to start the schedule.

[player_tooltip player_id="97024" first="Alice" last="Dibbo"], Middle Hitter, Woodenville
Woodenville stumbled in 2019. The relationship between Dibbo and senior setter Cora Lundquist will be key to providing the offense the Falcons will need to challenge for a league title in 2020. Matches against North Creek on September 17 and Bothell on September 24 will likely give the indication if Woodenville has what it takes to challenge for the title.

Claudia Leon, Outside Hitter, Issaquah
The focus of most defenses against Issaquah will be stopping the Senior Duo of [player_tooltip player_id="96980" first="Sadie" last="Bacon"] and [player_tooltip player_id="96997" first="Abbey" last="May"]. In tight matches, 6’ 0" outside hitter could swing the tide in the Eagles direction with consistent offense at the OH2 spot. Issaquah will face the juggernaut that is Lake Stevens on September 23 and will learn if they have what it takes to be among the favorites to win State in 2020.

[player_tooltip player_id="97019" first="Annika" last="Janky"], Middle Hitter/Right Side, Skyline
The 2020 version of Skyline volleyball will be experienced, but undersized. As the lone player on the squad over 6’ tall, Janky will need to play a critical role in helping her team score points out of system if the Spartans are going to be contenders for the title. An early season match-up with Issaquah on September 17 and the rugged competition of the Kent Classic tournament on September 26 will tell us whether Janky and the team are going to be contenders.

Ashley Barron, Outside Hitter, Bothell
The Bothell Cougars are full of big, young hitters. If they are going to challenge for the league title in 2020, Barron could be relied on heavily for passing leadership at the OH2 spot. At 5’ 10" tall she has the size to be a powerful compliment to junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id="97118" first="Jenna" last="Legault"] if the 6’ 1" sophomore Nora Hard struggles. Early matches against Monroe, Holy Names and North Creek on September 7, 8 and 10 will show us where Barron and Bothell are in the big scheme of things.
