Making varsity as a Freshman is a big deal for most young athletes. Once you accomplish that goal, the next step is to make an impact your sophomore season. Here are a few impact players to watch in the Fall.

[player_tooltip player_id="97258" first="Hailey" last="Brockway"], Outside Hitter, Graham-Kapowsin
Brockway is a known commodity after her impressive Freshman season, but will likely improve going into her sophomore year, and that is scary for the rest of the state. The 2019 South Puget Sound League and Tacoma News Tribune player of the year is just getting started on her volleyball journey. With her on the roster, Graham-Kapowsin are contenders.

Kyleene Filimaua, Outside Hitter, North Creek
You are going to read a lot about Filimaua on this site for the next three years, get used to it. She is worth talking about. She has size, ball control and has been mentored by the likes of University of Washington’s Coutrney Schwan. She is committed to attend Florida State University, but first she will be working to win North Creek their first state championship.

[player_tooltip player_id="97238" first="Haedyn" last="Bambolo"], Right Side, Bothell
Bambolo is part of a talented and tall crew representing the class of 2023 at Bothell High School. She has the height at 6’ 0" and length to put up a massive block from the opposite position. Improving how she reads faster tempo offenses and anticipate set selection will make her an impact player.

[player_tooltip player_id="97241" first="Eleanor" last="Hayd"], Outside Hitter, Bothell
Like Bambolo, Hayd has the size to make her presence felt. Learning to hit a variety of tempo sets and work around the bigger varsity block will be keys to her reaching her potential. As an outside hitter, the development of her ball control will come into play as well. If her and Bambolo continue to make strides forward, Bothell will be able to set their expectations to competing for league, district and state championships.

[player_tooltip player_id="97234" first="Ayla" last="Grant"], Setter, Snohomish
Grant will have an impressive collection of hitters to choose from this year at Snohomish. As she develops more consistent location for her sets, she will need to be focused on distributing the ball effectively to keep them all firing at their maximum performance. She will have a new coach this year and likely some changes to the offensive system run by former head coach Alex Tarin. How she adapts and continues to develop will be a big factor in Snohomish’s success.

[player_tooltip player_id="97301" first="Olivia" last="Deckard"], Setter/Outside Hitter, Kennedy Catholic
Deckard is an accomplished beach volleyball athlete who brings her all around skill set to the court for Kennedy. After a disappointing 2019 campaign, Deckard and the rest of the young Kennedy roster will be looking to take a big step forward in 2020. Expect her to challenge for the starting setter position and an outside hitter spot. She will fit in wherever she can best help the team move forward.
