<p>Blocking is one of the most fundamental basics of volleyball. However, there is so much intricate technique to learn to execute the skill well. Blocking can provide a team with a point, or help the team by getting a block touch. A good middle can bring more to the table than just blocking. A great middle has the ability to take over a match and pull out a victory. Here are a few middles who have an outstanding amount of talent.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98918" first="Rylie" last="Tam"] - 6’3" - Middle Blocker - Santa Fe</strong></p>
<p>Tam is a shutdown blocker who has the skills to completely annihilate a match. She provides a wide range of defense for her entire team. Her vertical is so impressive that even if she doesn’t get the block, she usually is able to get a soft touch so that her team can run their offense. Tam is magnificent when it comes to running the slide play. She and her setter have mastered such a connection that she is virtually unstoppable on an in-system play. She has mustered up 629 kills to go along with nearly 100 solo blocks. She gets up so high above the net and presses over unbelievably far. When she goes back to serve, she comes in to play defense and does so efficiently. She has 129 digs recorded for Santa Fe. She is without a doubt the team’s emotional and vocal leader on the court. </p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98927" first="Isabella" last="Collier"] - 6’4" - Middle Blocker - Creekside</strong></p>
<p>Collier is a spectacular hitter with aggressive hands. When she goes up against an opposing hitter she creates a mountain-like form with her entire body. She has a keen ability to stay disciplined and read what her opponents are doing. She is amazing at shutting down tips and setters when they attempt to dump the ball. Her agility helps bring her team so much momentum throughout a match. She collectively has 129 blocks so far for Creekside highschool. She gives hitters something to think about before they attempt to crush a ball cross-court. </p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98928" first="Reese" last="Friar"] - 6’0" - Middle Blocker - Plant</strong></p>
<p>[player_tooltip player_id="98928" first="Reese" last="Friar"] is an offensive powerhouse in the middle. She brings an enormous amount of consistency to her team. Her setter is almost sure to set her the ball on every in system play. She is hitting for a productive .302 hitting efficiency in a brutal conference schedule. She is very vocal on the court, always calling for a set. She has an extremely fast approach which doesn’t allow the opposing block to set up in time. She has a variety of shots including a brutal sharp cross-court shot that is very tough to defend. She is excited to accomplish even more in her upcoming junior season. </p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="98929" first="Montana" last="Jackson"] - 5’10" - Middle Blocker - Glynn Academy</strong></p>
<p>Jackson is an extremely fun player to watch play. She has a spark of enthusiasm that fires up her entire team. She is one of the most terminal attackers in her age group. Jackson may only be 5’10", but she plays much higher than that. She is hitting an astronomical .417 for her freshman and sophomore years combined. When she runs her approach and gets set a fast 1 ball, she is invincible. Her footwork is refined and allows her to have such dynamics shots. Her cross-body kills leave defenders feeling beat and vulnerable. There is little to no time to react to her because when the ball leaves the setter’s hand, it is already slammed down on the floor. </p>
