Continue ReadingWe are back to turn our attention to the 2022 uncommitted players of the State. Volleyball is slowly opening back up and June 15th has passed us now. This means that the Rising Junior class can now have full communication with College Coaches. Many have been receiving calls since midnight of the 15th. Others still need some help with exposure. That is where we come in. With all of the coaches in our database and all of you sharing our stories, more players will get much needed exposure. It could be one share that starts the ball rolling to help a player realize their dream of playing at the next level. This is why we love what we do. However, the player are the ones who deserve all of the credit. They put in hours and hours of work in the gym and out of the gym to get where they are physically and mentally within the sport. We will stay in Central Texas with this next crop of uncommitted players that deserve some attention. Here they are:
Jaedyn Newman Jaedyn Newman 5'10" | OH East View | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-10 Outside (HS: East View/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Newman is currently ranked as the 55th top prospect in the 2022 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. Jaedyn has all of the tools you would want in an outside hitter. She is a true six rotation player who has phenomenal ball control out of serve receive. She holds her platform nice and tight well after contact and its beautiful to watch. She has tremendous upper body strength both in passing and in attacking as well. She can hit on both pins and at various tempos also. She scores in a variety of ways on the left. She has a great off-speed game and can bang when she needs to. She is blessed with a very strong upper body that will get stronger with a great college strength and conditioning program. She is built to play at the next level. I think she deserves a look or two from some college programs. We are looking forward to watching her grow over the next few years on the court.
McKayla Ross [2022] 5-11 Middle/Right Side (HS: Westwood/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
“KK” is currently unranked on our list but this will change once I update the rankings later on this month. She has quickly caught our eye and we like what we see from Miss Ross. She runs all tempos out of the middle for her talented Austin Juniors Mizuno team. They run a pretty quick attack out of the middle and KK is always on time to attack it right out of the setter’s hands. Most middles at a young age mainly hit one direction to the zone 5 area. However, Miss Ross can hit the cut back shot to zone 1 with some great power. She stifles opposing setters with this shot and scores at will with it. AJV also uses her to run the slide and she is more than capable of doing it at a fast pace. I love the way she transitions off of the net from defense to offense. She is eager to get every set. Every coach would like a middle as hungry for the ball as KK is. She is definitely worth a look for a team who wants a fast middle to run a solid attack.
Olivia Adair Olivia Adair 5'6" | DS/L Johnson City | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-6 Libero (HS: Johnson City/Club: Roots/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Olivia is blessed with extremely fast footwork on the court. She excels on the defensive end and doesn’t let much fall in or near her zone. Being only five foot six, you wouldn’t think she has the range she does, but when you watch her sprawl out for a ball, you will see that it is like she grows right before your eyes. This defensive range allows her to touch a lot more balls than the average libero. You can tell by the way she plays that she loves to play defense. As a coach we always try to teach our young players to keep their posture low and shoulders forward throughout the entire game. Olivia does this extremely well on the court. She has great vision on the court also as she is constantly keeping her eyes on the players to read before they contact the ball. She has such great attributes as a young libero and she is only going to get better as the years progress. Check her out asap!
Allyson Scheidle [2022] 5-11 Setter/Outside (HS: Tivy/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ally is a wonderful prospect as a five foot eleven setter from the prestigious Alamo Volleyball club out of San Antonio. She was the 2019 district 26-5A Most Valuable Player. She can do it all on the court. She is a fantastic setter and a great hitter also. She loves to start out at a very deep touch point to start her attack and it allows her to gain so much momentum to use for added power on her swing. And boy does she have some power on that attack. If there is a split in the block, the opponent has almost no chance. I truly love the way she times her block on the right side versus the opponents outside. She reads the approach so well and times almost perfectly on the block. It is a great sight to see for a coach. She is rapidly rising on our rankings also due to her ability to play every spot on the court. Her ball control out of serve receive is amazing and she can dig just like a libero. Someone will scoop her up really soon so I hope all of you coaches take note of her name now.
