Although we do have a player committed to the next level in 3A ( Elise Swistek Elise Swistek 5'9" | OH New Prairie | 2021 State IN , ’21, Valpo), there are plenty of recruits still available at multiple positions and multiple graduating classes. Here are our top six.
Helen Beach Helen Beach 5'6" | DS/L Muncie Burris | 2021 State IN , ’21, 3A First Team All-State, 5-6, DS, Muncie Burris, Prep Dig #72
The only, and I mean ONLY, reason for Helen to not be committed at this time is that the ’21 class is flooded with exceptional DS talent. In Helen’s case, she is clearly in charge in the back row and is a major part of Burris’ success. She also trains at Munciana, and like all Delaware County kids, her ball control is second to none. Getting Helen on your squad gets you a four-year ball-control specialist that is like a second coach on the floor.
Kendra McCory Kendra McCory 5'11" | MB Brownstown Central | 2021 State IN , ’21, 3A First Team All-State, 5-11, MB, Brownstown Central, Prep Dig #54
State champ? Check. High-level volleyball acuity? Check. High riser? Double check. You can’t go wrong with this physical player, as she can play any position along the front row. She thumps with the best of them, and easily makes up for her size with her speed and strength.
Reagan Nuss Reagan Nuss 5'6" | S Brownstown Central | 2022 State IN , ’22, 3A First Team All-State, 5-6, S, Brownstown Central, Prep Dig #23
Reagan is THE reason Brownstown is back on the map as a volleyball power. Running the offense since her freshman season, this spitfire of a quarterback will get to every ball and make it better. Period. Don’t let her size fool you; she’s also capable of running a 5-1 at a high level, and can play defense better than the bigger setters in her class.
Eva Hudson Eva Hudson 6'1" | OH Bishop Dwenger | 2022 State #110 Nation IN , ’22, 3A Second Team All-State, 5-9, OH, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, Prep Dig #9
I’m trying to wrap my head around why this kid is still available. A six rotation pin player training at Munciana? Yes, please. She could easily be a libero at any high-level Division I program, but why waste her talent? She pounds with the best of them, and is no joke when it comes to winning. She’s relentless.
Isabella Hinton Isabella Hinton 5'9" | RS Silver Creek | 2021 State IN , ’21, 3A Second Team All-State, 5-9, RS, Silver Creek, Prep Dig #61
Over the years of being a coach and a ref in Indiana, I’ve found that Union has the highest concentration of kids that have a super high volleyball IQ coupled with a how-did-we-not-know-about-THAT-kid level of talent. Bella is just one of many. Miss Hinton is the kid that, if you need something, ANYTHING, it gets done. A block? OK. Must-have side-out? Sure. It won’t be long before she’s seen for what she is—a winner with high-end volleyball talent.
Maddie Siegel Maddie Siegel 5'11" | OH Brebeuf | 2022 State IN , ’22, 3A Second Team All-State, 5-11, OH, Brebeuf Jesuit Prep, Prep Dig #49
There are a ton of kids returning for Brebeuf for the fall of ’20. Maddie is, far and away, the top attacker in this group, and her edge is what sets her apart from a lot of other attackers in this class. She thumps, she blocks, she defends—what more can you ask for? Now all she needs is a supporting cast that can take this program back to state-championship aspirations.
