One outstanding hitter can carry a team’s offense for the most part of a season, but when matches get tighter, it normally takes a least two attacking options to take a team to victory in volleyball. These three teams seem to be equipped to succeed in the 2020 season in the state of Washington because they have interesting attacking pairings to work with.

Reaghan Naboychik and Abbie Harrell – Ellenburg

Outside hitter Reaghan Naboychik and Abbie Harrell accounted for more than half of Ellenburg’s 1,062 kills in 2019 and were instrumental to the Bulldogs’ run to the 2A Class State Championship final. The 5’8” sophomore Naboychik led the team in kills with 282 and made it to the All-State second team while 5’9” freshman registered 277 kills and earned a first-team appearance. They had both remarkable performances in the opening match of the State Championship, when they combined for 38 kills against North Kitsap.

[player_tooltip player_id="96983" first="Samaya" last="Morin"] and [player_tooltip player_id="96985" first="Karli" last="Tri"] – Lake Stevens

The offensive efficiencies of juniors outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id="96983" first="Samaya" last="Morin"] and middle-blocker [player_tooltip player_id="96985" first="Karli" last="Tri"] were instrumental in the success of Lake Stevens last season. A runner-up at the 4A Class in the State Championship, the team heavily relied on its main hitters for good reason as both were selected to the All-State first team. The 6’1” Morin, who registered 17 kills in the final match against Tahoma and ranks fourth in the class of 2021 according to prepdig.com, was the 11th most efficient hitter in Washington with .377 and the 6’2” Tri, the sixth-placed in our ranking, wasn’t much behind, at 24th with .328. Morin has already committed to play beach volleyball for the Grand Canyon University when she graduates.

Gabrielle Faamausili and Pomail Balderson - Steilacoom

Gabrielle Faamausili and Pomai Balderson benefited from playing with one of the best setters in the state last season, Gabrielle’s twin sister Danielle, and put up some impressive numbers for Steilacoom. Gabrielle, a 5’11” sophomore middle-blocker, was the state’s fourth most efficient hitter with .412 and hit over .500 in 13 of the 29 matches she appeared at. Balderson, a junior outside hitter also standing at 5’11”, ranked seventh with .384 and had a 20-kill match for the Sentinels against White River as the highlight of her season.
