The ‘22s are officially ramping up their recruiting efforts, and the ‘21s are prepping to take on their final high school season. They’re likely onto all their college prep courses and working on narrowing down the college choices. They probably have a good idea what level they might fit in and maybe even a potential major or two. It’s hard to imagine in one year they will be hosting their grad parties and looking for dorm supplies.

While it feels as though you need to have your entire adult life planned out before you leave high school, please know that you don’t. This idea may cause some anxiety, but I hope you can look at it as this, “You can be anyone and do anything you want and that will change with different experiences, so there is no need to set anything in stone at this moment in time. Embrace the ride because it will be the adventure of your life. Now, take a deep breath, and please take some time to enjoy your final year of high school.”

Now let’s take a look at twenty-one players from the Class of 2021 who would be great at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="80776" first="Andrea" last="Zwicker"] – 5’9 – Pin Hitter - SPASH

At 5’9 and the ability to swing from either pin, Zwicker has a number of tools to use in order to help her team. She has a strong block, swing, and is always an active off-blocker. Zwicker will be heading into her senior year after helping a SPASH group with a lot of seniors earn a Wisconsin Valley Conference title.

[player_tooltip player_id="80795" first="Anna" last="Bohrer"] – 6’1 – Setter - Verona

Bohrer was one of the setters for Sting Madison United 18 Red playing up an age group. She stood out at the Prep Dig Top 250 this past December. Bohrer will be looking to step in as the Verona graduates its main distributor from it’s 34-6 season. Verona could be on the rise after taking the Big Eight Conference regular season by giving the Sun Prairie powerhouse a loss in 4 sets. They later took a loss in 3 sets to Sun Prairie in the Big Eight Conference Tournament. I, for one, would love a front-row seat for that match-up in 2020.

[player_tooltip player_id="80813" first="Brooklyn" last="Montgomery"] – 5’6 – Setter/Outside Hitter - Mosinee

There is just something tricky about defending a smart and crafty player. Montgomery is certainly an active player who can score from either pin, back row, or the service line. She is a do-it-all player as she sets and hits for her high school team and then focuses more on defense during her club season with Wisconsin Ice. She is one of those rare players who can really do it all and hasn’t overspecialized.

[player_tooltip player_id="21871" first="Elle" last="Truckenbrod"] – 5’9 – Outside Hitter – Kettle Moraine Lutheran

Truckenbrod has developed into a real physical presence at the net with a high contact point and a terminal swing just about anywhere you’d like her to hit. I have really enjoyed watching her grow as a player with each season as she gets stronger, smarter, and more confident each time I see her. I’m not sure if Truckenbrod has a ceiling!
