Seven 13th Region Sophomores to Watch

<p>The Class of 2023 is on the rise in the 13th Region. </p> <p>Here are seven 13th Region sophomore volleyball players to watch. </p> <p><strong>Emma Ashurst:</strong> A defensive specialist, Ashurst contributed for 13th Region champion Corbin during its title run in the 2019 high school volleyball season. A defensive standout, Ashurst is expected to take on a larger role during in her upcoming campaign. Ashurst digs and pursues well. </p> <p><strong>Bailey Brown:</strong> Another defensive specialist, Brown was a regular contributor for Lynn Camp in 2019. Brown logged 141 digs and 25 service aces during the 2019 high school volleyball season. The productive Brown is a solid back row hitter.</p> <p><strong>Maddison Jones:</strong> A setter/outside hitter, Jones is an experienced player for Knox Central. Jones appeared in each of Knox Central's 29 matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season, recording 207 assists, 128 digs, 79 service aces and 57 kills. A proven leader, Jones is an accurate passer and strong hitter from the left side. </p> <p><strong>Shanna Lewis:</strong> A libero/defensive specialist, Lewis was among the leaders for Lynn Camp as a freshman in 2019. Excelling as a freshman during the 2019 high school volleyball season, Lewis registered 411 digs and 107 service aces. Lewis possesses quality passing and defensive skills. </p> <p><strong>Mallorie Perkins:</strong> A defensive specialist, Perkins delivered for South Laurel throughout her freshman campaign in 2019. Poised to take on a larger role for South Laurel during the 2020 high school volleyball season, Perkins has shown the ability to contribute from the front row. </p> <p><strong>Emma Owens:</strong> A libero, Owens appeared in over half of Harlan's matches during the 2019 high school volleyball season. A talented young defensive player, Owens posted 32 digs in a dozen matches. Owens has succeeded as a passer and produced defensively on a regular basis. </p> <p><strong>Scarlett Wilson:</strong> An outside hitter, Wilson helped to pace Lynn Camp in 2019. Wilson landed 108 kills while registering 103 digs and 26 service aces during the 2019 high school volleyball season. A go-to hitter, Wilson blocks well individually and with teammates. </p>
