Jackson Tournament outstanding players and MVP’s.

After watching all day, I wasn’t able to pinpoint down 6 or 7 kids for my outstanding players. What I like about this tournament so much is you have 3 Class 1 teams playing against 1 Class 2 and then a bunch of Class 3, 4, and 5 teams. Of the 8 in gold, three are from the Class 1 division in the state.

So I wanted to make sure that I picked out some from each Class and give props to the talent level at the small schools and the big schools in the southeast Missouri area. Predominately Class 1 is dominated by this area of the state of Missouri.

Outside hitters

Riley Siebert-Valle Catholic

Kids got a whip of an arm. It comes in strong and see’s the block well. When she gets a hold of the ball, it either hits the floor or leaves a bruise.

[player_tooltip player_id="41797" first="Mallory" last="Polk"]-Lesterville

Not a flashy player but knows how to get it done. Over 1000+ kills in her career and counting. She had a great match against St. Pius in the quarterfinals.

Reese Gray-Lesterville

The sophomore is strong and can slam a ball with the best of them. Plays defense well above her age and is what kept them in the game with St. Pius. Made some great digs in that match that would of went done against other players.

[player_tooltip player_id="102452" first="Kennedy" last="Lane"]- St Pius

A very smooth player that glides across the court and has confidence that you can see easily. She can hit a ball from anywhere on the court. Set her in the other gym, and she’s still going to rip it. Very fun to watch.

Nadia Wasilewski-Jackson

I was impressed with this 6’1 freshman. I had to double-check and ask if she was a freshman. Bangs a nice ball on the outside and will only get better over the next three years. Keep an eye on this kid.

[player_tooltip player_id="41758" first="Alyssa" last="Miles"]-Advance

I’m so tired of these Advance kids. I mean, they can flat out play for Class 1 school. Miles is another one of these do it all players for the Hornets that can flat out play. Hits and plays defense that other schools would love to have. They have a whole team of them. Second on the team in kills, and I see why after this weekend.

Meadow Morse-Advance

Another Hornet senior is just a go-getter. Hits pass and play solid defense. Surrounded by others just like her, the Hornets are a team with few holes.

Middles

Hannah Shinn-Jackson

A big strong athletic middle that leads her team in kills this year. When she gets on top of the ball, it’s a hard one to dig. Moves left or right well and gets a lot of touches—excellent middle for the Indians.

Ella Vogel- Cape Central

Here’s one of my favorites from the weekend. 6’0 middle can do it all and stays and plays all the way around for her team. Does it all very well too. When she gets the ball, she makes sure it either hits the floor or leaves a mark on her opponent.

Ella Bertram-Valle Catholic

6’0 middle does a stable job for the Warriors. Puts up a nice block and leaves a mark when hitting. Needs to be given the ball a little more but when she’s given the ball makes the most of her chances.

Emma Gaugel-North County

The first couple of times I saw this kid hit, I thought it was a fluke. Doesn’t give off the watch me fly through the air and slam it vibe, but man, she can sure fly. She’s got the hang time and the whip that sure does impress. Not sure how tall she is but has a great vertical.

Setters

Hannah Burch-St Pius

Burch knows when and where the balls need to go. Put’s up a good ball to the outside and right back. Feeds the middles enough to give her outsides a break but know’s who her beast is.

Grace Hicks-Lesterville

Looks may be deceiving on this player. She gets to a lot of balls most setters wouldn’t. Put’s up a solid ball to her outsides and does a good job moving the players around when needed.

MVP

[player_tooltip player_id="41785" first="Nyah" last="Wilson"]-Advance

5’11 middle that does everything for the Hornets and does it well. A middle that plays back-row and plays defense better than anyone on her team.

Alandry Below-Advance

With Below Advance isn’t the team they are without the silky smooth setter. She is the best setter in the tournament by far. She plays excellent defense and can even hit like her teammates.
