Continue ReadingThe New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) has postponed the upcoming girls fall volleyball season that was set to start on September 15. Due to Volleyball being an indoor sports along with gymnastics these two were the only fall sports that will be seeing their season postponed. The new start date for the girl’s season will be February 16 with matches starting March 3. NJSIAA is now splitting the sports season into 4 seasons. Fall sports being season 1, winter being season 2, girls volleyball/gymnastics season 3, and spring sports as season 4. This will allow athletes who play volleyball to still be able to participate in their traditional spring sports such as track, lacrosse, or softball.
Even though the delay of the fall season was anticipated NJ volleyball players were still left upset by the news. The girl’s USAV club season usually takes place from November (at the conclusion of high school season) to July if you are attending Nationals. This has left athletes facing the challenge of managing their new high school season start date, club ball, and academics come February. With COVID we have all learned that new changes and obstacles will occur each day and this is yet another obstacle that we will overcome.
Prepdig will keep you posted with the latest news and updates surrounding the NJSIAA Girls High School Volleyball season.
