The Fall 2020 season has officially begun tryouts. We have all been very thankful to get a sneak peek of teams when they have attended our Sunset Slam tournaments. While the masks made it hard to recognize some players, I was able to ask around and find some new players that I will be looking for in the future!

What New Players Are On The Radar

[player_tooltip player_id="118260" first="Abbi" last="Martin"] – 2022 – 5’11 – Middle Blocker - Mosinee

Martin is one of the key components for Mosinee who finished runner-up in their bracket. She is a lively middle blocker who can hit a variety of tempos and get a hand on just about every attack frustrating opposing hitters.

[player_tooltip player_id="117309" first="Amelia" last="Dettmering"] – 2021 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter – Prentice

Dettmering is smart with the ball and effective on either pin. She has a strong armswing and keeps a good vision of the court. Dettmering can read the other side of the court, has high energy, and is super competitive.

Ava Belling – 2022 – Outside Hitter – Lake Mills

Belling is a dynamo swing and looks super comfortable playing all 6 rotations. She is super smooth and can pass to attack in many versatile situations. Belling is a dynamic athlete with a good volleyball IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id="122515" first="Brylee" last="Leverenz"] – 2024 – Setter – Waukesha West

Leverenz does not play like a freshman. She is smooth and exactly what the Wolverines needed. The beauty is, she has a libero who keeps her in-system and hitters who allow her to be fearless and grow, making them a dangerous group to take on.

[player_tooltip player_id="118262" first="Cassandra" last="Patchett"] – 2022 – 5’11 – Outside Hitter – Fox Valley Lutheran

Patchett has been popping up on our radar quite a bit lately. She was swinging really well at the Slam and showed how she can terminate. Even better, she can play all six rotations and is versatile across the net.

Claire Sobczak – 2023 – 5’3 – Setter – Pacelli

I enjoyed watching Sobczak grow during this past club season. She took on a bigger leadership role and really exploded as a player. I believe it was really beneficial for her high school season as well, as she showed her quick feet, effective communication, and increased location consistency.

[player_tooltip player_id="122558" first="Ella" last="Skogman"] – 2024 – 6’0 – Middle Blocker – Waukesha West

Skogman’s confidence grew right in front of our eyes. She is offensively engaged and is a solid blocker. She keeps the ball in front of her and can see the court when she swings. She can read, anticipate, and react with high energy.
