Four 15th Region Defensive Specialists to Watch

<p>Defensive specialists are among the players poised to lead teams into the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament. </p> <p>Here are four 15th Region defensive specialists to watch. </p> <p><strong>Hannah Fite:</strong> A freshman defensive specialist for Belfry, Fite is among the top young volleyball players in the 15th Region. Through Belfry’s first 13 matches in the 2020 high school volleyball season, Fite registered 173 digs. Fite helped to lead Belfry to the 60th District title as a freshman. </p> <p><strong>Emily Gearheart:</strong> A senior defensive specialist/libero for current 15th Region frontrunner Pikeville, Gearheart is a leader. Through Pikeville’s first 18 matches in the 2020 high school volleyball season, Gearheart recorded 458 digs, 34 assists and 25 service aces. Gearheart helped Pikeville capture the 59th District championship. </p> <p><strong>Madi Meade:</strong> A junior defensive specialist for Betsy Layne, Made recorded her 1,000th career dig during the 2020 58th District Volleyball Tournament. Through 18 matches in her junior season, Meade has registered 453 digs, 29 service aces and 9 kills. A multi-sport standout, Meade excels in both volleyball and basketball for 2020 58th District volleyball runner-up Betsy Layne. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="68114" first="Alivia" last="Stumbo"]:</strong> A senior defensive specialist/libero, Stumbo is among the leaders for reigning 15th Region champion Floyd Central. Through the first 11 matches of her senior season, Stumbo has recorded 115 digs, 12 service aces and 8 assists. Stumbo was instrumental as Floyd Central claimed the 2020 58th District volleyball title. </p>
