Continue ReadingOver the next few months I will be rolling out some articles that will give props (proper respects for those who aren’t hip with the kids lingo like I am…jk) to those volleyball players who are terrorizing their opponents this volleyball season. I will still be doing our regular highlight articles on multiple athletes for exposure, however I wanted to do some special articles on a few special athletes that we are getting to know quite well with Prep Dig TX. This week we will give special recognition to Miss Erin Jones from New Braunfels Canyon High School, as she is our High School Player of the Week.
Erin Jones [2021] 6-0 Setter/Right Side (HS: New Braunfels Canyon/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Angelo State)
Ally is currently unranked according to our Prep Dig State Rankings List, but that will change next month as we release our new updates. She is a smooth Setter/Right Side who can do it all on the court. She is a tremendous leader for her team and is a fierce competitor on the court. She has a great frame that is built for the collegiate game. Standing at 6ft tall, she is a player that you do not want to take off of the court when she rotates to the net. Erin is versatile enough to run the offense in a 5-1 due to her amazing blocking or you can run a 6-2 and keep her in as a solid attacker on the right pin. Her sets come off of her hands so smoothly and the ball just floats to the hitters. With her attacking, there is tons of power as she is able to direct the ball to any area on the court. As a setter, this young lady can push the ball with ease to any location and consistently hit her target over and over. She is committed to Angelo State University and will do really well for their program the moment she steps on the court as a freshman.
So far in this young season, Miss Jones has been able to reach the milestone of getting her 3000th assist for her career and the season barely began. This past week, she tallied some impressive stats. She had two triple doubles this week. “Triple Doubles” are when an athlete accumulates double digits in three different statistical categories. Against Dripping Springs, she was able to get 10 kills, 26 assists, and 17 digs. Then to top it off in her last match of the week in a win against 2019 State Finalist Alamo Heights, she tallied 10 kills, 16 assists, and 12 digs. We can’t wait to see what she does for the rest of this season as she has a solid core of athletes standing beside her ready to take on all teams standing in their way. She has been a starter since her freshman year and racking up stats in every game. We do not think this trend is going to stop any time soon. So grab your popcorn and get ready to watch records fall.
We will be publishing more articles weekly to give recognition to those athletes who are playing great in their matches. Stay tuned for more articles on your favorite athletes. If you have anyone that you think deserves to be recognized as a player of the week, feel free to send me a message with their information. Or if you have anyone that you think have what it takes to be added to our database, please shoot me an email with some info at nov8vb@yahoo.com. As always, thanks for following our publication.
