From the Sunset Slams to Octoberfest we have seen hundreds of players. I have enjoyed seeing so many talented players, and everyone loves to rave about the hitters, but I am so impressed with some really amazing athletes that run the court and do it all to set their teams up for victory. Let’s take a look at some more great setters!

[player_tooltip player_id="33784" first="Alayna" last="Westenberg"] – 2021 – 6’0 - Watertown

Westenberg takes a heavy swing out of the middle and from the right side. Her stats last fall were 306 kills, 145 digs, and 39 total blocks. Westenberg may normally be an attacker, but she is a really good setter.

[player_tooltip player_id="57252" first="Emma" last="Baierl"] – 2022 – 5’7 - Howards Grove

Baierl is a setter with the ability to distribute the ball with a high volleyball IQ for Howards Grove. Last season she had 795 assists, 147 digs, 90% serve efficiency, and 56 aces. Baierl is setting up some really great hitters this year in [player_tooltip player_id="22384" first="Karissa" last="Kaminski"] (2022 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter), [player_tooltip player_id="82282" first="Saige" last="Damrow"] (2023 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter), and Maddy Near (2021 – 5’10 – Middle Blocker).

[player_tooltip player_id="21869" first="Brooke" last="Mosher"] – 2021 – 6’0 – Waterloo – Committed to Illinois

To simply put it, Mosher is super smooth, and she makes playing volleyball look easy. She is athletic, can jump set, and set from anywhere on the court. Mosher understands how to set in a tight window on a line.

Grace Kieselhorst – 2021 – Luther Prep

Kieselhorst is a super athletic setter, and she draws attention immediately with her style of play. She has great ball control, awareness, and consistency, while also being very vocal and aggressive with every single play. Kieselhorst knows exactly who to set and when.

[player_tooltip player_id="91885" first="Sophia" last="Schneider"] – 2023 – 5’10 - Waterloo

Whoever has to play this team on their way to state better look out because they are going to be really hard to beat. Schneider gets to set [player_tooltip player_id="21869" first="Brooke" last="Mosher"] (2021 – 6’0 – Setter/Outside Hitter – Committed to Illinois), [player_tooltip player_id="56467" first="Joslyn" last="Wolff"] (2021 – 5’10 – Setter/Outside Hitter), [player_tooltip player_id="91886" first="Rylee" last="Duessler"] (2023 – 5’8 – Outside Hitter), and Abbie Gier (2022 – 5’8 – Middle Blocker/Right Side Hitter). She can run a fast offense and is comfortable with setting from pin to pin to use the whole net.

[player_tooltip player_id="81258" first="Claire" last="Ammeraal"] – 2022 – 6’0 - Madison LaFollette

[caption id="attachment_112060" align="alignright" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="81258" first="Claire" last="Ammeraal"][/caption]

Ammeraal may not be getting a fall season, but she has found a way to play a lot and has shown how she can really take charge. She is quick-thinking and does a fantastic job of getting her feet to the ball to set up her hitters. Ammeraal takes a wicked lefty swing and puts up a huge block that makes her one of the best setters in the class of 2022.

[player_tooltip player_id="81257" first="Sydney" last="Lewellin"] – 2022 – 6’0 - Lake Mills

Lewellin will be setting Ava Belling (2022 - Outside Hitter), Kaitlin Borchert (2022 – Outside Hitter), Katie Palmer (2021 – Middle Blocker), and Gabby Hack (2022 – Middle Blocker). She is a dynamic six-rotation setter with strong court awareness and a strong setter eye. Lewellin is quick, consistent, and has an explosive swing.
