The pandemic has caused both governing bodies to make drastic changes for the 2020-2021 academic year and athletic programs. The Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association has cancelled their championships for the Fall season. Teams had the options to play, if they choose to do so, without a championship or possibly play in the Spring to coincide with the mandate that the public high school season, which will play starting in February. Twenty six teams have decided to play some semblance of a season, giving many of these young women an opportunity to find some semblance of normalcy in a very difficult time in their young lives. </p>
<p>The Fredericksburg Christian Eagles have won the first ever PrepDig Virginia Team of the Month has for <img class="alignleft" src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcTVSKi7Bq-9S6ESMkiXV7qim48Dfb4xV8my5VdcVECUYXteGmLO%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Flookaside.fbsbx.com%2Flookaside%2Fcrawler%2Fmedia%2F%3Fmedia_id%3D176205322473750&usqp=CAU" alt="Fredericksburg Christian School - Home | Facebook" />September. Fredericksburg Christian Eagles are off to dominant starts to the 2020 season, with a perfect 4-0 start, not losing a set along the way and not more than 16 points in a single set. The team is lead by a plethora of upperclassmen, including three returning all state selections. [player_tooltip player_id="111426" first="Emma" last="Shaeffer"] is the team’s starting setter and run the offense and is entering her senior campaign after a First Team All State Division II Selection in 2019. [player_tooltip player_id="111402" first="Paige" last="Bachman"], the 6’2 dual sport star, returns as a dominant hitter and blocker. Paige leads the state with a .697 hitting percentage. [player_tooltip player_id="111451" first="Sydney" last="Whittaker"] is a 5’11 Outside Hitter who will continue to carry a heavy offensive load and lead the serve receive. Paige and Sydney were both Second Team All State Division II Selections in 2019. </p>

She’s a dynamic and explosive attacker, relentless defender and dominant server. She led the state in kills, aces, and aces and continues her exceptional start into October. Megan is a reigning First Team All State Division III Selection and is well on her way to another stellar performance. She not only excels on the indoor, but also is one of the top beach players in the metro Richmond area.</span></p>

<p>The TEACH Volleyball team (Virginia Beach) is also off to a great start at 5-0 under Coach Caldwell, sweeping their way to a Number 2 ranking in the PrepDig State Ranking for September. Leanna Caldwell is establishing herself a one of the top players in the Tidewater area and the state. Despite her modest 5’5 stature, she is an explosive attacker and a six rotation talent for the team. She’s also leading her team in kills, aces and digs in her senior year. The team continues their strong start into autumn and should be a top team as the season progresses. </p>
