Class AA: Senior’s Final Matches

<p>After the decision to end the 2020 volleyball season was announced Wednesday, teams rushed to find a few final matches for today and Friday.  November 20th is the last day of competition for these 2021 graduates.  Here are a few from class AA you will want to watch one last time:</p> <h3><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><strong><a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EW9hv">Abby Haggenmiller</a> </strong>from <em>St. Peter</em>.  The 5’1’’ defensive specialist is the epitome of hustle.  She has excellent footwork and transitions from spot to spot flawlessly.  They like to play her in the right back position because of the big middles and right side hitters in the conference.  Likewise, she is essential to their serve receive and is a big part of their 8-2 overall record.</span></h3> <p>Another senior you need to see since this will be her final volleyball match: 6’4’’ <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="71960" first="Sacia" last="Vanderpool"] </strong> from Byron.  The tall middles has signed to play basketball at the University of Wisconsin, but that didn’t stop her from putting in the time with the Byron Bears volleyball team.  They had an incredible season finishing second in the 1AA West behind Kasson Mantorville.  She led the team in kills with a season high 18 against Cannon Falls.  With her help, they slowed down and even took a set from Stewartville.  They didn’t have any other games scheduled with teams that are still playing, but we hope they can find one.</p> <p> <strong> [player_tooltip player_id="72802" first="Paige" last="Peaslee"]</strong> from North Branch is another basketball recruit who doubles as the team’s leading hitter.   They have her hit from the left side so she has room to work.  A long reach combined with a big powerful approach make it hard for teams to cover the angles she can hit.  They finish the year 8-2 overall and second in 7AA.</p> <p><strong><em>Update: Paige is in the Class of 2022.</em></strong></p> <p>  <em>Plainview Elgin Millville</em> has a bounty of seniors.  <strong>Alyx Doehty</strong> is a great middle hitter who does everything for the team.  From kills to serving and even passing.  They keep her in a position to always be next to touch the ball.  A similar athlete is Belle Plaine’s <strong>Lauryn Johnson</strong>.  Although she is quite a bit shorter than <em>Doehty,</em> she a very skilled 3-sport athlete.  </p> <p>  And we can’t forget about Concordia Academy.  They have been in the spotlight all season with household names like<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="10088" first="Kira" last="Fallert"]</strong>,<strong> Sydney Pelzer</strong> and<strong> Brooke Weichbrod</strong>t.  Tonight, November 19th, they have schedule a non conference match up with AAA school Bloomington Jefferson.  This is going to be a entertaining game with both programs bringing size and scrappy defense!  <br /> Good luck to these seniors and others!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
