These athletes are hungry and between watching athletes in Wisconsin and Iowa the past two years, I can vouch that their accolades and accomplishments in their young careers and well deserted. There are also athletes that you can see they are on the brink of a breakthrough. The repetitions they've had time and time again are now becoming automatic. Plus, they are getting strong, quicker, jumping higher and are finding their athleticism. I've seen these athletes in summer leagues, camps, high school tournaments, club tournaments, and even state championship matches. Here are the Class of 2023's heading to the Top 250 in Wisconsin and Iowa that will definitely be ones to take note of not only at our event, but into the 2021 club season.

Iowa

[player_tooltip player_id="79667" first="Claudia" last="Aschenbrenner"] - Osage - CIA

Aschenbrenner is one of the top middles in the Class of 2023. She's 5'10, but in the middle her athleticism is her biggest strength. Coming off a state title for Osage, Aschenbrenner has an extremely high motor where she just keeps working through every point allowing herself to be available to swing and score in transition. She contacts the ball square and knows how to score points on a slide, just a fun athlete to watch with her positive body language and constant energy

Marion turned it up another gear and took control of set three. 2023 RS/S Avery Van Hook was so key to increasing the energy, scoring points for the Indians pic.x.com/ER3tIQnX5s
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) October 10, 2020

Avery Van Hook - Marion - Iowa Rockets

The “X-Factor”. I saw Van Hook as a Freshman a few times, including the state tournament and seeing her as a Sophomore this past fall, you could see improved efficiency in her footwork, a solid read for the other side of the net as a setter, and then when she enters the front row she scores a ton of points as a right side hitter. She also has intangibles that you cannot measure. She's a winner, she gets after it, and she will bring the energy and intensity of others up another level

[player_tooltip player_id="79675" first="Chloe" last="Cline"] with the presence at the net and [player_tooltip player_id="41250" first="Emily" last="Wood"] is so tough to defend. A lefty hitting from the left side is uncommon and the Spartans taking full advantage pic.x.com/qWJqy9FvDF
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) November 2, 2020

[player_tooltip player_id="79675" first="Chloe" last="Cline"] - Pleasant Valley - Iowa Rockets

Cline's upside is crazy high as well as her vertical. Long, athletic, and the ability to get from pin to pin to close the block as well as a quick snap of an arm swing to score has made her a top five athlete in the Class of 2023. She's played for successful high school and club teams and she will continue to rise through the ranks. Her presence is always known when she is in the match where if she's not stuffing the block, she's altering it for the opposing attackers.

[player_tooltip player_id="79678" first="Lily" last="Dykstra"] - Urbandale - PowerPlex

Dykstra is the next six rotation pure outside that will turn heads in Iowa. The Class of 2023 has really made huge statements this fall during the high school season and Dykstra is one. She is the top overall prospect from this class with her ability to score points. She is always an outlet for her squad no matter where hse is and will be a fun prospect to take the court with others in the state on December 5.

[player_tooltip player_id="79666" first="Ellie" last="Anderson"] - South Hardin - Club Ignit Select

Anderson was a major part of the run South Hardin made to the Iowa State tournament this past fall. An aggressive approach and big swing, Anderson racked up over 400 kills as a Sophomore and will be sure to tally plenty of post season honors. She will play club for Club Ignit Select where she will train other top outside hitters in [player_tooltip player_id="17322" first="Hayden" last="Kubik"] (Nebraska) and [player_tooltip player_id="79234" first="Ava" last="Reynolds"] (Denver) in the class above her.

Wisconsin

[player_tooltip player_id="91885" first="Sophia" last="Schneider"] - Waterloo - FC Elite

Her game has elevated so much in the past year. She has been training with Illinois commit, [player_tooltip player_id="21869" first="Brooke" last="Mosher"] where she can set and swing. Schneider is like a point guard on the court where she can score points, but also dish to the open attacker. Her style is so physical and athletic where she is so essential to her side of the net. She's the type of players others want to be around.

[player_tooltip player_id="61781" first="Zoe" last="Behrendt"] just so smooth as a setter - Class of 2023. She can do it all. pic.x.com/NBzcAozMcL
— Chris Fitzgerald (@PrepDigChris) August 7, 2020

[player_tooltip player_id="61781" first="Zoe" last="Behrendt"] - Whitefish Bay - Milwaukee Sting

The gamechanger. Behrendt changes the game and is the orchestrator to her offense. She can hit all the tempos in front and behind her, and she also knows the right time to attack and score on her own. For club, she runs the show as a setter, but her high school season she is a big time attacker.

@kyladunaway touching high and has improved so much in a year. She can play out of the middle or right side. She shows flashes of [player_tooltip player_id="33252" first="Elise" last="Goetzinger"] from the Class of 2020 who is now a Freshman at Kentucky. Long blonde hair, strong, athletic, and will be one can be one of the top blockers and attackers in her class.

New 2023 prospect alert in Wisconsin. 6'5 pin in the Green Bay Area 👀 - she will be in attendance at the Prep Dig Summer Showcase at @stingvb1988 August 7. Her game has immensely improved since the fall of 2019 and still has plenty of potential to tap into.

[player_tooltip player_id="91891" first="Abbie" last="Dix"] - Brodhead

Dix was one of the top Freshmen for Brodhead in 2019 and did not have a high school season this fall. When she wasn't playing volleyball, she was tearing up on the AAU basketball scene for Let It Rain where she is a top prospect in the Class of 2023. Her overall athleticism and physicality will be fun to see with other top volleyball players in Wisconsin.

[player_tooltip player_id="91911" first="Meghan" last="Scholz"] - Tomahawk - NW Stars

One of the best middles you haven't heard of yet. Scholz is 6'2, a quick jumper, and a high contact point. She's from the North woods of Tomahawk that not only has beautiful views, but has also produced some top volleyball talent. Scholz is one to keep an eye on through the club season as she will be quite a pick up at the next level if she continues to develop.

[player_tooltip player_id="91892" first="Marissa" last="Corso"] - Neenah - FC Elite

Corso is quick, dynamic, and finds ways to score points with a high IQ of knowing when to swing, tip, or throw to an open spot. She had a strong fall season playing in the Prep Dig Fall League with no official high school season for Neenah in the spring. She is really developing into a strong athlete and with more reps can be a very dominant player.

[player_tooltip player_id="61807" first="Kindyl" last="Kilar"] - Whitewater - Milwaukee Sting

So smooth, just makes it work and is so efficient with everything she does. Kilar is another swiss army knife type of player who is so fundamentally sound everywhere on the court. She can swing on the pin, score points, and pass on point. A huge positive for any team she is on.

[player_tooltip player_id="91884" first="Rowan" last="Schreiber"] - Madison Memorial - Balance

Schrieiber will be hungry for a club season after her high school opted for the alternate season in the spring. At 6'4, Schreiber is strong, athletic and can really put up a big block at the right side or out of the middle. She's a sleeper in this class, but with her size and athletic ability, there will be plenty of college coaches who would be happy to have her on their side of the net.

[player_tooltip player_id="82915" first="Autumn" last="Flynn"] - Luxemburg-Casco - FC Elite

Flynn is fresh off a state title with Luxemburg-Casco where she is an extremely dynamic middle blocker. Very dangerous off one foot, Flynn can run the slide and really hammer. At 5'10, strong, and athletic her swing and power is really what sets her apart.

[player_tooltip player_id="91900" first="Maya" last="Wegand"] - Little Chute - Impact

Wegand is a big leaper, she's got an electric arm and can find a way to score points. She's a threat to score from the backrow and is a primary passer in serve receive as well. She played up on the Impact 16 National squad last year and will be gearing up for another big club season.

[player_tooltip player_id="82906" first="Sydney" last="Bartels"] - Freedom - FC Elite

Bartels has some scary athletic ability. Jumps like a deer out of the middle and makes quite a combination with fellow 2023 setter high school and club teammate, [player_tooltip player_id="91894" first="Rachel" last="Koss"]. A quick arm, but her overall ability to hang and make adjustments really is what standsout. She can play on the right side or middle, but can be turned into quite the utility front row player.
