Continue ReadingTexas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) has grown to a membership of 230 schools with a combined enrollment of over 40,000 students. Schools are presently aligned in six (6) classifications with districts across the state of Texas. These schools have quite a few athletes that are listed on our State Rankings list. TAPPS just completed is State Tournament also. Here is a recap of what transpired in the 6A Division.
Argyle Liberty Christian versus Houston St. Agnes for the State Championship. St. Agnes came in to the championship match with a record of 17-5 overall record. They beat Tomball Concordia in the Semi-finals (23-25, 25-23, 25-21,25-22) to reach the championship match. St. Agnes is no stranger to the State Finals as they won the State Championship last year. They were eager to try for the back to back titles. Liberty Christian had an impressive season with an overall record of 31-1. Liberty Christian had a little tougher match with Addison Trinity Christian taking 5 tough sets to vanquish them (18-25, 26-24, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9) to reach the finals. Now the two best teams in the state would have to square off in order to call themselves Texas TAPPS State Champs.
The St. Agnes Academy Tiger Volleyball team is led by Iowa commit Toyosi Onabanjo and Sophie Agee, and Kendall Harris. As we said earlier, these young ladies were not going to back down from the fight since they were trying to “defend the den” meaning they wanted to defend their State Title from last year.
Liberty Christian Volleyball, led by Madison Morrow and Jadyn Fife’s vicious attack all season, showed to be too much for the St. Agnes Tigers to handle. The amazing aspect of the LC volleyball team is their setter, only a sophomore, Reagan Fifer. She will make sure that they will be back next year as they will return all three. Liberty Christian was able to win the championship in grueling sets (25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 25-14, 15-13). This was a battle for the ages and all of the players left it all out on the court.
The All Tournament honors from TAPPS will be announced soon. As soon as they are, we will update everyone on the awards.
We would like to congratulate Argyle Liberty Christian on their amazing season and way to cap it off with their State Championship!!! Enjoy it ladies.
