First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.
For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.
The Greater Spokane District is formed by high schools from the 2A, 3A and 4A classes, featuring 15 different teams, and some of their players with the greatest upside are:
Taylor Miche Taylor Miche 5'0" | DS/L Mt. Spokane | 2021 State WA – Libero/Defensive Specialist – Senior – Mt. Spokane
Taylor Miche Taylor Miche 5'0" | DS/L Mt. Spokane | 2021 State WA has been a stud for back-to-back 3A class State Championship winners Mt. Spokane. The five-foot defender was stellar for the Wildcats in 2019, coming up especially big during the State Championship final against Capital, when she dug 35 balls, and received her first All-State team nomination. She was also an All-League first-teamer and places 33rd in prepdig.com’s class of 2021 rankings.
Katarina Kenlein – Setter – Senior – Lewis & Clark
Katarina Kenlein is one of the most promising setters in the division and the 2019 season she had with Lewis & Clark showed why. The Tigers were far from spectacular, winning just four of their nine district matches, but the 5’8” Kenlein was a bright spot for them consistently facilitating her teammates’ work at the net and adding to other aspects of the game too. Her solid effort was rewarded with an All-League second-team nomination
Hannah Gecas – Libero – Senior – Pullman
Defense was a strong asset of a Pullman team that dominated the 2A Great Northern District with 12 wins in as many matches and much of the credit for it goes to Hannah Gecas. The 5’4” libero coordinated the Greyhounds’ defensive system masterfully, making her team one of the toughest to score in the entire division, something that strongly helped on their State Championship run. Gecas impressed most of the coaches in the 2A class, earning an honorable mention to the All-State team.
