Over the last few months, we’ve provided you a lot of information about who are the players you won’t want to miss when the high school volleyball season starts in Washington next March. First we broke the players down by division and then we switched gears to analyze who are expected to be the most outstanding athletes in the top teams of each of those divisions.

For the next several weeks, we’ll dive even deeper, taking a closer look at each of the 46 district leagues in the state of Washington and pointing out the players we believe will be worth your attention in the near future.

The Greater St. Helens District is easily one of the strongest in the entire class 2A, being home to nine high schools, including reigning State Championship winners Ridgefield, and some of their players with the greatest upside are:

Emma Adams – Libero/Outside Hitter – Senior – Columbia River

Defense is Emma Adams’ bread and butter and she’s really, really good at it. The 5’7” Columbia River standout can also play as an outside hitter if needed, but she’s at her absolute best when tasked with coordinating the Chieftains’ defensive efforts, as it was the case last season, when she ended the season with 473 digs and 342 passes to go with 22 aces. Her solid game took her to the All-State team as an honorable mention and to the All-League first team.

Ellie Weber – Outside Hitter – Junior – Mark Morris

Elizabeth ‘Ellie’ Weber has strongly helped Mark Morris win half of their 12 district matches last season. The 5’8” outside hitter’s first position in volleyball was setter, which gave her a great understanding of the game. That combined with her superior and diverse game at the net and her hard-working backcourt efforts give Weber all the tools to be a very efficient player, one a team can be built around. Her progress didn’t go unnoticed in 2019, when she earned an All-League team honorable mention.

[player_tooltip player_id="97014" first="Maddie" last="Sheron"] – Outside Hitter – Senior – Columbia River

[player_tooltip player_id="97014" first="Maddie" last="Sheron"] has been a stud for Columbia River in each of her three seasons of high school volleyball. The 5’11” outside hitter has been consistently unstoppable at the net for the Chieftains, having never registered less than 147 kills and reaching a career-high 183 in 2019. She’s also a capable defender and passer, having the complete package to become an elite outside hitter at the collegiate level. Over the last two seasons, Sheron has amassed back-to-back All-State team selections, being a second-team member in 2018 and an honorable mention in 2019, and also two consecutive All-League first-team nominations. She ranks 35th at prepdig.com’s class of 2021 ranking.
