Top 16’s Teams to Watch at the PD Resolution Tournament

The Prep Dig Resolution Tournament will be the first club tournament most athletes will have played in since March of 2020. I anticipate amazing energy in the gym as teams meet, another year older, for the first time in months. There was no “closure” to the 2020 season, so anticipation is higher than ever for the upcoming club season. 

Teams and athletes have been working hard to get in the swing of things again before the start of tournaments, and now we are here! Here are some of the top 16’s teams that I can’t wait to watch play this weekend. 

FC Elite 16 Navy (17/18 Division)

FC Elite Navy teams are always incredibly strong and this one is no different. Libero Paige Miller Paige Miller 5'10" | DS/L Kaukauna | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #13) is fast and makes some simply insane digs out of the back row. She also excels on serve receive and is one of the best liberos in the state. Setters Rachel Koss Rachel Koss 5'11" | S Freedom | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #28) and Macy Herman Macy Herman 5'11" | S Kimberly | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #37) are both fast and experienced setters who will (quite literally) set this team up for success. With powerhouse middles Sydney Bartels Sydney Bartels 5'11" | OH Freedom | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #17) and Autumn Flynn Autumn Flynn 5'11" | MB Luxemburg-Casco | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #32), they will not only excel at blocking, but also run an incredibly fast offense. Round that out with pin hitter Taylor Tetzlaff Taylor Tetzlaff 6'0" | OH Kaukauna | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #30) who was explosive this past summer and fall in the Prep Dig tournament series, and this team will be a force to be reckoned with. 

FC Elite 16 White

This FC Elite 16 White team will be gritty and has a roster full of talented athletes. Ava Rank Ava Rank 5'5" | DS/L Kimberly | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #66) has continued to improve in leaps and bounds and will be a great L/DS for this team. Kate Bahrke Kate Bahrke S Oconto | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #76) is incredibly gritty and moves the ball well from pin to pin. With her speed and consistent sets, this team will be able to utilize talented middle blockers Monika Stevens Monika Stevens 6'0" | MB Little Chute | 2023 WI (Prep Dig Rank #33) and Molly Rohde Molly Rohde 5'11" | MB Hortonville | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #40) regularly. They also have explosive pin hitter Kylie Hanson Kylie Hanson 5'8" | OH Luxemburg-Casco | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #48) on their roster who is talented in the front and back row. 

Motion 16 Blue (17/18 Division)

This Motion team has a roster filled with amazing athletes. Most notable is Grace Groholski (Prep Dig Rank #4) who is the #2 ranked outside hitter in the state and hands down a top prospect. Class of 2024 setter Laiken Koepke plays a level years past her actual age. This team will be supported in the middle by Lexi Bugajski Lexi Bugajski 6'0" | S New Berlin Eisenhower | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #100) and 6’3” Megan Schultz (Prep Dig Rank #74). While this team will be incredibly offensive, their libero out of Wisconsin Lutheran, Ryleigh Zeller Ryleigh Zeller 5'5" | DS/L Wisconsin Lutheran | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #45) will round out the offense well in the back row. 

Impact 16 National 

Impact has really come onto the map the past few years as a competitive club. This specific roster will be very gritty and fun to watch. Ashton Birr Ashton Birr 5'4" | DS/L Pulaski | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #70) and Myakel Kapalko Myakel Kapalko 6'0" | OH Notre Dame | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #67) will lead the team in the back row. Both are very competitive and scrappy. Alivia Jeanquart Alivia Jeanquart 5'7" | S Notre Dame | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #64) is a gritty setter who is a leader on the court and will do everything in her power to better the ball. Pin hitters Isabella Grace Isabella Grace 5'10" | OH Bay Port | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #95) and Samantha Kempinger Samantha Kempinger 5'10" | OH Fox Valley Lutheran | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #89) will bring consistency and power to the pin while middle blockers Kate Henze Kate Henze 5'11" | MB Fox Valley Lutheran | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #102) and Carly Stamm Carly Stamm MB Neenah | 2023 State WI (Prep Dig Rank #83) are sure to anchor the team in blocking and offense. This will be a fun team to watch. 

FVP has also entered three teams in the 16s division and will definitely be a club to watch. 1W Bay 16 Mizuno also should be very competitive and fun to see play this coming weekend. The 16’s division is set to have some very high-level teams that will set up a great weekend of volleyball right after the new year.
