2021 Newest Additions to the State Rankings List Vol 2

We began our rankings in March with only 60 players. We have since then almost doubled it in size as we now have 113 players ranked in the 2021 grad class. We are extremely excited to welcome these ladies to such a prestigious group. We have written about a few of these athletes before, however we are going to now introduce them once again but now with their much deserved overall State Ranking attached to their name. Welcome to the list ladies…     [player_tooltip player_id="118705" first="Erin" last="Jones"] [2021] 6-0 Setter/Right Side (HS: NB Canyon/Club: Alamo/Signed: Angelo State) Please welcome [player_tooltip player_id="118705" first="Erin" last="Jones"] to the 2021 Prep Dig State Rankings. We have her listed as the 61st best prospect in the state. She is a fantastic setter and right side from the central Texas area. She plays for the famed Alamo Volleyball Club out of San Antonio and also New Braunfels Canyon high school. She led her team to a wonderful overall record of 25-2 and an undefeated district record of 16-0. She has amassed an astounding 3,348 assists to go along with 135 aces, 1222 digs and also 594 kills over her four year Varsity career. She is one of the main reasons for Canyon’s deep run in the UIL State Playoffs this past season. She was a selection to the TGCA 5A All-State Team due to her play in her senior season. Skill-wise this young lady can do it all on the court. The ball floats off of her hands so smoothly and her location is pin-point accurate. She can hit the same location over and over again with ease. Offensively she is a gifted scorer who has tons of raw power behind her attack. This Angelo State signee will do wonders for their program the moment she steps on campus next season. We are looking forward to covering her 18s club season. Please congratulate her on her ranking.     [player_tooltip player_id="118708" first="Ashlyn" last="Svoboda"] (2021) 5-10 Outside (HS: Friendswood/Club: AVA-Absolute Volleyball/Signed: Northwestern State) Please welcome Ashlyn to the 2021 Prep Dig State Rankings. We have her listed as the 62nd best prospect in the state. We previously wrote an article on the Houston area outside when we profiled her Friendswood program as one of our teams of the week for October. In that article we stated the following, “Ashlyn has a very strong frame and utilizes it well on offense. She has great power on the pins and scores very efficiently. One thing that truly stands out is her court awareness and reaction time to dig hard driven balls. In the back row, she is always in the right place to dig. She collapses her body very well to dig the hard ball and softens the contact well. She plays on a very good AVA club team that has exceptional training. According to coach Paulk, Ashlyn is one of the most competitive kids that she has coached. She is a 6 rotation outside that is a primary passer and best defensive player on the Friendswood team. She was a captain this past season and will be looked heavily upon in the coming season. She has great ball control and will likely play libero in college where she has committed to Northwestern State University. She makes everyone on the court better and demands the best from her teammates. Ashlyn was a 2019 Regional Champion and State Qualifier. She was named to the 2019 UIL State All Tournament Team, 2019 TGCA All State, and 2019 TGCA All Star Team. As well as 2019 22-5A Offense MVP. Also she was named the GHVCA player of the year again in 2019. Her sophomore(2018) year she was 2018 TGCA, TAVC, VYPE All State, 2018 GHVCA Player of the year, 2018 All Galveston County, 2018 District MVP, and 2018 Houston Chronicle Newcomer of the year.” It is due to her play this season that we put her on the official rankings list. She helped lead her high school team to a 23-5 overall record and a 15-1 district record this year. She has amassed an impressive 1005 kills, 1312 digs, and 93 aces to go along with 82 blocks in her 4 year Varsity career at Friendswood. Being able to hit an efficiency of .297 is one of the reasons why she will star while at Northwestern State University. Please congratulate her on her ranking with us.     [player_tooltip player_id="118709" first="Claire" last="Arend"] [2021] 5-10 Outside (HS: The Woodlands/Club: Houston Juniors/ Signed: High Point University) Please welcome Miss Arend to the 2021 Prep Dig State Rankings. We have her listed as the 77th best prospect in the state. We previously gave her Player of the Week honors in October and here is a little of what we wrote, “She is a great player in the Houston area that has been a very consistent contributor for her High School team. While she might not be the prototypical height of many six foot outsides that her opponents have, she makes up for it with her amazing athleticism. She is able to adjust to any set. The fun part of watching her is when she is approaching and makes an adjustment in mid-air to change her attack. She does it so fluid and scores at will with her off-speed attacks. The Woodlands has many attackers but Claire is extremely consistent with her production to keep them in the hunt for a good playoff spot. Now don’t let me talking about her off-speed fool you into thinking that she has no power. This young lady can rip away at any time from any location. She uses her entire body to unload on her opponents. I love how athletic she is and how she uses it in the way she plays the entire game. We can’t wait to see what she does in the rest of the season.” Due to her play this past season with her amazing Woodlands high school program, we have added her to the rankings. She helped lead her team to a wonderful overall record of 23-4 and an undefeated district record of 10-0. As a senior she had 278 kills, 21 aces, 14 blocks, and 318 digs. We are excited to cover the High Point University signee for her 18s club season at Houston Juniors.     We have over thirteen new players to introduce you to that got added to our 2021 rankings with the new update and tons who moved up and down the list. We will be publishing more articles daily to give the recognition to each athlete that has earned the right to be called a top 113 Texas Volleyball Player.
