Class of 2022 Standouts from MLK Showcase

Isabella Mendoza - 5’11” - OH - Class of 2022 - 305 VBC 17 National Elite Isabella Mendoza is an outstanding outside hitter on the 305 17 National team, that took first place in the 17 Open division at the MLK Showcase. Isabella’s attacks are impressive due to her fast arm swing and great control over her hand contact. She is able to place the ball between a block or around it, either down the line or sharp cross-court. Her high leaps into the air help with both her attacking and blocking. Not only is Isabella a standout in the front row, but she can also hold her own in back-row defense, making her a full rotation player. Isabella has been playing on the varsity team at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, FL since she was in 8th grade. In her career 218 sets, she has scored 834 kills, 30 blocks, 222 aces, and completed 411 digs. She definitely makes a huge impact on her team, especially when she is in the front row.   Angelina Dobal - OH - Class of 2022 - 305 VBC 17 National Elite Angelina Dobal is another top hitter on the 305’s 17 National team. Angelina has great range in the front row with experience in all attacking positions across the net. However, her powerful cross-court attack is the most successful skill. She has played on Coral Reef High School’s varsity team for the past 3 seasons. In 131 sets, Angelina has compiled 329 kills, 39 blocks, 280 digs, and 101 aces.   Maylee Lanham - 5’5” - DS, L - Class of 2022 - Venetian Bay 17-1 Emerald Maylee Lanham is one of the main defenders on Venetian Bay 17’s team. Although she is experienced playing libero, she is capable of playing in any back-row position as the defensive specialist. Maylee is excellent at reading early and making fast moves to the ball. Unlike most defenders her age, she is very good at saving high hard driven balls with an overhand pass. This past season, Malyee played in 63 sets for Venice High School’s varsity team and accumulated 108 digs and 40 aces.   [player_tooltip player_id="98969" first="Mandy" last="Knipp"] - 5’10” - S, RS - Class of 2022 - OT 17 T Justeen [player_tooltip player_id="98969" first="Mandy" last="Knipp"] is an outstanding setter and right-side hitter for OT 17 T Justeen. Mandy is a true all-around player given her ability to play in both offensive and defensive positions with ease. Additionally, her beach-court, AVP, experience adds to her abilities including her fast, powerful movements on the court. She is a standout player on her team and continues to impress with her wide-range of talent. For the past 3 seasons, Mandy has played on Steinbrenner’s Varsity team, and in 172 sets has completed 1018 assists, 61 aces, and 288 digs.
