Continue ReadingCoastal Hampton Roads is quickly establishing itself as one of the elite programs in the Old Dominion region with multiple AVCA Phenoms coming thru their pipeline, joining All State players and high level college prospects. This season is no different. After the merger of Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club and the Hampton Roads Juniors, Coastal Hampton Roads has continued to blossom in the commonwealth. They opened a new facility in December 2020 and continue to grow in their performance on the court. The club has 11 girls travel teams and two boys teams this season. They have national teams at each age group from 14 1s, 15s, 16s, 17s and 18s, along with 5 regional teams (13s, 14s, 15s, 16, 18s) that play mainly east coast events and one state team (16s) that plays tournaments in Virginia.
Here are a dozen of the top prospects on the teams:
18 National: Madison Clark Madison Clark 6'1" | RS Peninsula Catholic | 2021 State VA (OH/OP), Sachia Lamb, (MB), Emily Sullivan (pictured right) (MB/OP), Cana Davidson (OH) and Charlotte Burgess (L). Madison signed to play with the D1 Hampton University Pirates. She’s a physical presence at the net with supreme athleticism and a intelligent and strong attacking toolbox. Cana is a solid 6 rotation Outside Hitter who signed with UVA Wise. Sachia is a dynamic athlete with a great vertical and arm swing. She is solid running the slide as well and other dynamic plays. She could develop into a strong outside hitter as well with better ball control. She’s a low D1 level prospect. Emily is a 6’1 lefty who can play anywhere, including setter. The unsigned senior from Lafayette High is a low to mid level D1 prospect. Charlotte is a max effort libero with good ball control and solid movement to get around the court quickly and efficiently. She could play D1 with the right program.
17 National: Audrey Muth Audrey Muth 6'1" | MB Peninsula Catholic | 2022 State VA (OH), Alexis Schwerting (S/OP), Olivia Brown (pictured left) (MH), Georgia Van Kirk (MH), Samantha Parker (L). Audrey is a member of the 2020 AVCA Phenom Watchlist. The towering Outside Hitter can also play Middle or Opposite but with excellent ball control and optimum size, she projects to be a solid D1 Outside Hitter. Alexis is a dynamic athlete with solid fundamentals and a lefty setter who can play 6 rotations which is becoming more rare with the specialization within the sport. She has a solid serve, a great release as a setter and can hold her own offensively as well. She could start for many D2 programs. Olivia is a hard working and athletic middle hitter who’s willing to be a defensive stopper at the net but also makes herself available as an offensive option in defensive transition. She could be a solid D2 player or D1 walk-on. Samantha is a very fast libero who is also very solid in out of system setting. She is a relentless defender who reads the play well and has excellent footwork. She manages the backcourt and is a great passer. She could get looks from Division 1 coaches.
16 National: Tyrah Weems (MH) and Alexis Keeter (OH) are two of the top players on the 16 National Team. Tyrah is a big blocker and dynamic offensive force at the net. She has a powerful arm swing and isn’t afraid to take the swing in the big time situation. She could become a Division 1 prospect. Alexis is a flat out volleyball baller. She can do everything, has an extreme passion and love of the sport and has a high volleyball IQ. She is outstanding fundamentally and reads the game well beyond her years. She could also be a strong beach player as well.
This is just a few of the prospects from the Coastal Hampton Roads program and a continuing to improve program.
