We are still playing catch up. The Class of 2023, this year's 16s/Sophomore class missed out on a large majority of their club season in 2020 and some have yet to play an official high school match as well. At Prep Dig, we are still catching up on this class and look forward to seeing their progress. Whether its been a high school match, scrimmage, showcase, or even the first tournament of the year with our Prep Dig Resolution we know there are athletes who are bound to breakout. Here are a few to have on your radar as we enter the 2021 club season.

[player_tooltip player_id="91860" first="Meghan" last="Schultz"] - Motion MVP 16 Blue

Schultz showed this past weekend at the Prep Dig Resolution that she is a powerful force to be reckoned with in the middle. She has a heavy swing where she can score plenty of points. Her team went 3-0 on Saturday defeating three 17s teams including their own MVP 17 Blue squad in their bracket finals. Schultz is also a top basketball player in her class, same as [player_tooltip player_id="91875" first="Grace" last="Grocholski"] who is her teammate on the outside for MVP 16 Blue.

[player_tooltip player_id="82913" first="Naomi" last="Sheperd"] - Milwaukee Sting 16 Black

The Milwaukee Sting 16 Black squad is going to be a dynamic and uber athletic squad who will be tough throughout the 2021 season. They may not have the size, but they have athleticism across the board. Sheperd is a left handed right side that can really score points. She saw time on the right side for Arrowhead this fall and will look to carry that momentum into the club season.

[player_tooltip player_id="119395" first="Olivia" last="Lasee"] - FC Elite 16 Navy

Lasee is relatively new on the radar. She comes from De Pere High School where she played in the Prep Dig Fall League. I thought she was a Junior (Class of 2022) until November, she played up on the FC Elite 17 White team last year. Laser has a physical presence out of the middle, touches high, and has quite the wing span. She is going to be one who can make a big impact offensively and defensively. Her performance this past weekend at the Prep Dig Resolution was key in FC Elite 16 Navy's 4-1 weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id="91880" first="Kyla" last="Dunaway"] - Milwaukee Sting 16 Gold

Dunaway is 6'3 and will play on the right side this year for 16 Gold. She will be the top right side in the state and with her length and strength, she has an extremely high ceiling. With her athleticism, she will develop into a six rotation type athlete with more touches which will make her really scary for her opponents. Sting will kick off their season at the Central Zone Invite in Indianapolis against some of the top teams in the country and Dunaway will be one of the many six-footers on the front line for this squad.

[caption id="attachment_125204" align="aligncenter" width="422"] Kealy in the middle for Kokoro[/caption]

[player_tooltip player_id="92019" first="Morgan" last="Kealy"] - Kokoro 16-1

Kealy has volleyball running through her veins where it's a family affair with her family coaching, playing, and broadcasting for River Falls. Her older sister Madi set for River Falls and is now playing at Minnesota-Duluth. Kealy's IQ on the court is beyond her years. Mature, positive body language and great hands will have her running the show for Kokoro out of St. Paul, MN who just got the green light from the state to start practicing again. This 16s team for Kokoro has a lot of Wisconsin flavor throughout the lineup.

[player_tooltip player_id="91908" first="Monika" last="Stevens"] and [player_tooltip player_id="91936" first="Molly" last="Rohde"] - FC Elite 16 White

This is a major physical presence in the middle at all times for FC Elite 16 White where Stevens and Rohde provide quite the middle blocking duo, coming from Little Chute and Hortonville. They both can really swing on a variety of tempos as well as provide a big block. They can attack off one foot and have an incredibly high ceiling, their best is ahead of them and are major hidden gems in the Fox Valley.

[player_tooltip player_id="91858" first="Ryleigh" last="Zeller"] - Motion MVP 16 Blue

Zeller is extremely solid in the backrow. She is the libero for the MVP 16 Blue squad where she can provide a steady and dependable first contact. There is plenty of range in her game where she moves well, covers plenty of territory and plays with little wasted motion. Big impact player for MVP this past weekend at the Resolution.

[player_tooltip player_id="91899" first="Gwen" last="Crull"] - Balance 17s

Crull is part of a really athletic and talented Balance team that is composed of athletes from the Dane County area. Standouts at McFarland and Edgewood where Crull is a dynamic force out of the middle, but can terminate all over. Balance will compete at the Quad Cities Clash the weekend of January 16-17 with top teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa. The team has plenty of length and grit, and should be a fun team to see all season.

[player_tooltip player_id="91895" first="Molly" last="Berezowitz"] - Milwaukee Sting 16 Black

Berezowitz is scrappy, she's a go getter. She's part of the Burlington program that is consistently producing top defenders throughout the state. Her ball savvy is up there as well where she is the type who makes the routine plays and can make the outstanding dive as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="91856" first="Ellie" last="Gustafson"] - [program_tooltip program_id='431531' first='Capital' last='Volleyball Academy']

I was able to see Gustafson play at our Top 250 in November and was extremely impressed. A long, athletic outside hitter, Gustafson can score points from the front and backrow. She contacts the ball high and is one who will be on the radar once teams in the Madison area get the green light. Capital will have a bit of a delay to their season with some of the contact rules in Dane County. Once they get the chance - watch out!

[player_tooltip player_id="119431" first="Finley" last="Charapata"] - FC Elite 16 White

This past weekend was the first time I was able to see Charapata play live. She has size and plenty of athleticism. Playing mostly on the outside, Carapata has a big arm and is very efficient out of system as well. She scored some big points in the FC Elite 16 White wins all weekend and is only scratching the surface of her potential.
