Continue ReadingWe bring our attention back to the wonderful class of 2023. We will continue to help get exposure to those that deserve it through their efforts to improve on the court. We have been very active in communicating with College Recruiting Directors all over the state so that we can bring the best to the eyes of the college coaches we have in our database that read our articles. I have spoken to many of them and they are extremely excited about this 2023 class. So without further ado, here are a few of the standouts that we originally profiled but with some updates on their high school seasons.
Cindy Tchouangwa Cindy Tchouangwa 5'11" | OH Tompkins | 2023 State #45 Nation TX [2023] 6-0 Outside (HS: Tompkins/Club: Houston Juniors: Verbal: Uncommitted)
Cindy is currently ranked as the 24th best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Rankings. In a previous article we wrote the following,“This long-armed pin hitter from Houston has what it takes to become a very dominant force in the volleyball world sooner rather than later. With her wingspan, she has one of the longest reaches of the 2023 class. Her Houston Juniors club loves to run her at a second tempo out of the middle in serve receive and she scores very well to the corners with it. If you walk by her court quickly, you will definitely stop in your tracks once you hear the sound of her hit. She hits a very heavy ball and will be a tremendous point scorer for her high school varsity team for quite a while. That reach we just spoke about makes it very difficult for opposing blockers to get a hand on her attack. She contacts the ball at such a high point in the air and it will help her stay very efficient offensively for the foreseeable future.” She stars for her Thompkins high school program as a sophomore on Varsity. In two years she has amassed 456 kills while hitting .249. She has accumulated 69 blocks and had 174 digs to go along with 7 aces. She plays in a tough district in the Katy area and helps her team stay competitive to make the playoffs. They had a 14-8 overall record and a 8-4 district record. She truly turned up the heat for the playoffs as she had 18 kills in a losing effort against George Ranch but hit a .368 efficiency in the 5 set loss. For being young, she doesn’t play like it. Cindy has played in some extremely competitive matches during her club season as well with her talented Houston Juniors squad. We are excited to cover her for the future.
Kinley Graf Kinley Graf 5'7" | S Cornerstone Christian | 2023 TX [2023] 5-7 Setter (HS: Cornerstone Christian/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kinley is currently ranked as the 44th best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Rankings. In a previous article we wrote the following,“She has a great frame to run an offense. If she has one more growth spurt she will be a force to be reckoned with. Her ability to be pinpoint accurate with her backset is great to watch. She sets the right side with ease even when moving forward for the out of system pass. She is part of one of the best teams in her age group at Alamo. I love her jump setting and watching her set from different levels in out of system plays. She has a very bright future ahead of her. Other than her amazing skillset, it is her drive that stands out. This fiery setter plays the game with a lot of passion and celebrates with her teammates well when they get a kill. It brings a smile to my face watching a player love the game and her teammates that much. This young lady is the real deal and will be even better with continued great training from her awesome coaches.” As a sophomore she plays for a great Cornerstone Christian program. She has been able to accumulate 428 assists, 40 aces, and 159 digs in those two years. She will likely pad those stats in the next few years as they have a very talented team that will be extremely competitive. She helped them to a 30-9 overall record this past season. She had her Alamo team have been on a tear so far this club season and we are extremely excited to see what they do. We will be following very closely and will report with more information soon. College coaches keep an eye out.
Crystal Creek Crystal Creek 5'11" | MB Bastrop | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-11 Middle/Right Side (HS: Bastrop/Club: Austin Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Crystal is currently ranked as the 47th best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig Rankings. In a previous article we wrote the following,“She earned district 18-5A newcomer of the year honors last season at Bastrop High as a freshman on varsity. I haven’t seen a middle load up this much in a while and it is extremely refreshing to see. She truly understands the importance of loading and driving her legs into her approach. This creates so much momentum for her to unleash her power on the attack. And boy does she have some power. She is gifted as she also plays on the pins too. She has no problem with timing the higher tempo set. She excels on all three positions on the net. As a coach we try to teach players to use a big swooping upswing in order to gain momentum and gain extra elevation in their vertical. Miss Creek does this extremely well and very naturally. I would love to show all of our younger players her sweet mechanical movements in her approach. She has such a high ceiling when it comes to getting better at volleyball.” In two years on Varsity she has been a leader on the court. She has amassed 478 kills, 394 digs, 89 aces and 74 total blocks. Most sophomores are lucky to make the Varsity team, but Miss Creek stars for hers. Every statistical category improved from her freshman season to her varsity season. We are excited to watch how much she improves during her junior and senior campaign. Her Austin Skyline team has been killing it so far this season. We are excited to cover them and will have more updates soon.
