However, we know one of the reasons why many of you follow high school volleyball is to try and anticipate which prospects have what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level and beyond. So, in this series, we’ll share our best guesses and list the top student-athletes from each of the next three graduating classes in each State district.
Our first stop in the 2A class is the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) and here are our selections:
Class of 2021
Grace Meirndorf Grace Meirndorf MB Prosser | 2021 State WA – Outside Hitter – Prosser
Grace Meirndorf Grace Meirndorf MB Prosser | 2021 State WA is a force for Prosser at the net. The six-foot outside hitter has all the tools to be a very prolific scorer, including great size, a heavy arm and a diverse set of hitting options, and she made good use of them in 2019, when she was selected for the All-League first team. She’s been solid for the Mustangs and the fact that some areas of her game still have a lot of room for improvement certainly makes of her an even more interesting prospect to watch in the future. She ranks 15th on prepdig.com’s class of 2021 ranking.
Class of 2022
Reaghan Naboychik – Outside Hitter – Ellensburg
Ellensburg’s 2019 campaign which ended with a second-place finish at the State Championship was prompted by stellar performances of their outside hitters, most notably Reaghan Naboychik. Then a sophomore, the 5’8” prospect took over the scoring duties with the Bulldogs and registered a team-high 282 kills. Naboychik also proved to a decent blocker, getting 32 stuffs at the net, and found her way to the All-State second team and for the All-League first team.
Class of 2023
Abby Harrell – Outside Hitter – Ellensburg
Abby Harrell was the ‘other half’ of Ellensburg’s outside hitter duo and although she was also a prolific scorer for the Bulldogs with 277 kills, she also provided sizable help in other departments of the game. The 5’10” prospect is very technical and also played a big role in the team’s defensive system with 224 digs and 351 passes besides 49 blocks and 28 aces. Such strong numbers in her first year of high school volleyball took Harrell to be an All-State and All-League first-team selection.
