These great players have been tearing it up on the court this past high school and current club season. We couldn’t be happier to give them kudos for their hard work. Here their updates:
Kayla Wilson Kayla Wilson 5'10" | OH Shadow Creek | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-10 Outside (HS: Shadow Creek/Club: Absolute Volleyball Academy/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kayla is currently the 82nd ranked prospect according to the Prep Dig State Rankings list. In our previous article, we wrote the following, “This young lady can fly. She has an outstanding vertical which allows her to get on top of the ball well and rip into her opponents. She is blessed with quick twitch muscles that help her get off of the ground extremely fast. She is very fun to watch hitting on either pin. Kayla is capable of attacking well on both sides. I love how her teams in the past have used her on quick sets also. She is a gifted scorer who will give any team she is on an added lift of explosiveness. Her jumping ability also gives her the bonus of being a shut down blocker. She is able to press and seal the net so well and doesn’t have any issues with timing her block. We love her because of her ability to be well rounded and play defense in the back row. She is a six rotation outside hitter who deserves to be looked at by college programs. Stay tuned to see her progress over the next few years.” In two season on varsity so far she has amassed 272 kills, hit an impressive .214 hitting percentage, 78 blocks, 25 aces, and 165 digs. This past season she helped Shadow Creek HS 11-10 overall and 7-6 in district. Now that she has more experience under her belt she will look to be a leader for her varsity squad and turn it up for her senior season. We will be watching to see how she does.
Emma Vu Emma Vu 5'7" | S Allen | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-5 Setter (HS: Allen/Club: Dallas Premier/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emma Vu Emma Vu 5'7" | S Allen | 2022 State TX who is currently ranked as the 83rd best high school prospect in the 2022 class in the State of Texas. In our previous article we wrote the following, “Miss Vu is a solid setter out of the North Texas area. Emma is a smaller setter by height but that doesn’t stop her from playing in the front row and still being able to get her hands well above the net to block. She is a feisty competitor who isn’t afraid of a challenge. The ball comes off very clean and smooth from her hands despite the tempo or location of the set. She is a very experienced setter who can set all locations with extreme accuracy. Emma has a solid jump float serve that stifles opponents. I love her athleticism on the defensive side of the ball. I am excited to have her on the rankings and look forward to watching this year.” She has been impressive on varsity for the past two years as she has accumulated 512 assists, 221 digs, 28 aces and also added 41 kills. She helped her Allen HS team stay competitive and have a 10-10 overall record and also a 5-7 district record. She is ready to improve in every category during her senior season. We are proud to have her in our State Rankings and look forward to see her progress.
Jackie Velzis Jackie Velzis 6'0" | MB Cy Woods | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-1 Middle/Right Side (HS: Cypress Woods/Club: TAV Houston/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jackie comes in ranked as the 94th top player in the great state of Texas according to our rankings in the 2022 class. In our previous article we stated, “This north Houston prospect is a solid stopper on the middle of right side. She plays for a great TAV Houston club led by Joe Lind. She is able to seal the net extremely well when it comes to blocking. I love how athletic and quick she is running her routes in the middle. She is able to run the slide so fast which will help any college program offensively. She has a cannon for an arm. We really like her because of her versatility. She can play multiple positions on the court and play them well. She is able to serve and be a threat in the back row also. Her offensive versatility is on full display as she hits out of the middle and the right side pin. The ability to change tempos and be accurate on timing are a testament to how athletic she truly is. Give this young lady a look as she can help out a program with a “slash” player. That is what I call a player who can play multiple positions.” She has had two amazing years as a varsity player for Cy Woods. She helped them to an overall 16-6 record and 10-4 in district. In two years, she has amassed 418 kills, 66 blocks, 174 digs and 31 aces. She is ready to dominate during her senior season and build on what she has already accomplished like earning 1st team all district and being added to the AVCA Phenom Watch List. We will gladly watch as she has been improving every year.
