It is, however, a shortened season and in a little over three weeks it will have come to an end already. Knowing that, we certainly don’t want to waste any time and will continue with our weekly articles highlights the players who have been doing a great job in each of the state’s six divisions.
Let’s look at the players who are turning heads in the 3A and 4A Divisions.
3A
Jade Ilaoa – Outside Hitter – Walla Walla – 2022
Jade Ilaoa was heart and soul for Walla Walla this season. The 5’8” outside hitter stepped up her game and became the team’s centerpiece in the shortened season. Ilaoa was particularly important for the Blue Devils when scoring points, as she led her team in kills (145) and aces (39), but also did a good while avoiding them with 131 digs and 171 passes.
Allie Wildsmith – Middle-Blocker – Bainbridge – 2022
A six-foot middle-blocker, Allie Wildsmith knew exactly how to make her presence be felt at the net this season. The third-year player used her big body to dominate the space where points are won and lost and ended the season with 75 kills and 40 blocks in just 37 sets.
Joie Goninan – Outside Hitter – Stadium – 2021
Joie Goninan did everything in her power to end her high school career on a high and she accomplished that with a very productive campaign with Stadium. The 5’8” outside hitter displayed a well-rounded game that made her lead the Lady Tigers in aces (33) and digs (141) and rank second in kills (83) and third in passes (126).
4A
Jadyn Kallenberger – Outside Hitter – Curtis – 2021
An outside hitter and defensive specialist, Jadyn Hallenberger brought the best of both positions together to put up a strong season for Curtis. The 5’8” prospect was dominant at the net, producing the Viking’s second-best offensive mark of 146 kills, but was also light out on defense, ranking in the team’s top-three with 126.
Kamdyn Hagerty – Middle-Blocker – South Kitsap – 2024
I bet South Kitsap’s opponents will avoid Kamdyn Hagerty at the net after her strong freshman campaign. A 6’1” middle-blocker, Hagerty patrolled the net with a high level of efficiency as she registered 31 blocks during the season, averaging 0.8 per set. Her offensive game was noted too, as she towered opponents at the net to secure 46 kills.
Tatyana Tauese-Paulino Tatyana Tauese-Paulino 5'6" | DS/L Curtis | 2023 State WA – Libero – Puyallup – 2023
Lead a strong team as Puyallup in digs in just her second year of high school volleyball was quite an accomplishment for Tatyana Tauese-Paulino Tatyana Tauese-Paulino 5'6" | DS/L Curtis | 2023 State WA , but she’s ready for more. The 5’4” libero was instrumental in the Vikings’ backcourt efforts and exceeded expectations with a team-high 162 digs. She also produced 18 aces during the season. She’s part of our class of 2023 watchlist.
