West Windsor-Plainsboro South
West Windsor has been nothing short of spectacular this season. The squad showcases offensive scoring prowess leading them to being 8-0. The balance is absurd with three hitters with 50+ kills and three setters with 30+ assists.
Sibana Gonzalez, Skylar Hendrick and Alisa Vukovic lead the team. They all have lethal swings which make them almost impossible to defend. You never know you is going to get the ball which makes West Windsor that much more dangerous.
Mother Seton
As it comes for Mother Seton, I mentioned it was going to come down to their dynamic sophomore duo of Fiona North and Liahnna Orange. Both of them have stepped up and delivered. North has 55 kills while Orange has 114 assists.
The unknown surprise has been the defensive depth for Mother Seton. They have six players with 20+ digs. All of them are willing to put in the effort defensively and everyone can pass well. They really do frustrate their opponents flying all over the court to make plays.
Hasbrouck Heights
Hasbrouck Heights has been one of my biggest surprises of the season. A squad that hovered around .500 last season has not dropped a set this season and is 8-0. Nicole Dallara and Kelsey Parodi are the reasons why.
Dallara has 55 kills and has been extremely impressive showcasing her ability on the outside. She’s creative with her swing and can make you pay from anywhere on the court. Parodi has 81 assists on the season and you can see her fingerprint on every game even if the stats say otherwise. Her court awareness and precision passing is must-watch.
Bogota
Bogota is a squad whose season started later than most. They have only played four matches and only started playing last week. The team has not skipped a beat and have demonstrated why they will most likely be the top team in the state as others have taken losses in the last couple days.
Both Amber Vazquez Amber Vazquez S Bogota | 2021 State NJ and Mia Pimentel Mia Pimentel S Bogota | 2023 State NJ have showcased their brilliant passing with both recording 38 assists. Kiara Polanco Kiara Polanco OH Bogota | 2021 State NJ has 60 kills already, the offense is running through her and teams have not come up with a decent strategy yet.
Donovan Catholic
Lastly, we have Donovan Catholic. They have not played in a couple weeks now so it will be unique to see how they respond after the time off. In my opinion, they won’t miss a beat.
The team has been balanced with five players with double digits in kills. This allows Karin Ojeda Karin Ojeda 5'5" | S Donovan Catholic | 2021 State NJ to be extremely deceptive with her passing and spread the wealth around the squad. She is a master-class as a setter and has 41 assists on the season. She is the engine for Donovan Catholic.
