As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 60 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.
During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.
Ama Xtreme 17 National
Representing the Amarillo Xtreme Volleyball Club, Ama Xtreme 17 National is the only team of the club qualified for the GJNC and they will play in the 17 USA division. The group led by head coach Will Boyd has already lifted a pair of trophies this season with their victories at the AAU Oklahoma Grand Prix and the Tour of Texas Qualifier for the San Antonio-Austin area. The team has a 22-10 record so far.
Players to Watch
Taytum Stow – Middle Blocker – HS: Hereford – 2022
Taytum Stow’s 6’3” frame plays a pivotal role for Ama Xtreme 17 National as the towering middle blocker uses her size extremely well to the team’s favor. Stow’s offense is definitely the best part of her game as she can hit a variety of different sets keeping the same level of efficiency and power in each of them. Her blocking game is also really strong as she has good timing and uses her long arms well to put pressure on opposing hitters.
Brielle Worley – Outside Hitter – HS: Amarillo – 2022
Brielle Worley is an explosive outside hitter who scores a lot of points for Ama Xtreme 17 National. A 6’1” player, Worley has long been a stud for her high school and club teams as she was invited to participate in USA Volleyball Holiday Training Camp back in 2018. She has a very complete game, with a lot of power and efficiency at the net, but is also a good passer and defender. Worley has already secured the next step of her career as she committed to play at the collegiate level for Abilene Christian University.
Jaycee Adams – Libero – HS: Bushland – 2022
A high school state champion with Bushland, Jaycee Adams is the rock that provides stability to Ama Xtreme 17 National’s defensive system. The 5’5” libero is extremely technically gifted and uses all of her skills to help the team with defense and passing. Adams stepped up big time during the MEQ, in which the team secured its bid to Las Vegas, playing as an outside hitter to fill in for injured players.
