Continue ReadingWe are proud of our third update to the 2023 Class. We have grown to 127 of the best athletes that this state has to offer and the following players have made some serious moves on the list. It is through their play during this past season that has helped us decide who should be where on the rankings. We always say that it is not an exact science, however proving it on the court in their position always helps solidify the analysis. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Brooke Bentke Brooke Bentke 6'2" | OH Brenham | 2023 State #112 Nation TX [2023] 6-2 Outside (HS: Brenham/Club: Woodlands Revolution/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We are pleased to announce that Brooke has made the move from being ranked as the 20th best prospect to the 17th top prospect in the State of Texas according to our Prep Dig Rankings in the class of 2023. We have profiled her a couple of times already and will likely write a few more articles as she is just tearing it up on the court since we introduced her last summer. We have previously stated, “She is a lengthy six rotation pin hitter who is the “go-to” scorer for her talented Woodlands Revolution club squad. She can light it up with the best of them as she scores at will in a variety of ways. Most players at this age, need almost a perfect set to score. Not Brooke. When the set is inside or off, she can still adjust her approach accordingly and still have the timing to hit with power. She can find the hole in the block, she can swing around it and go line, and she has so much power that she can tool the block at will. Standing at six foot two, she is a towering presence at the net against her opponents. For most tall blockers, they don’t load up much to jump and block. My favorite thing about Brooke is how she still bends her knees and loads up so much to block. This tells me that she has a passion for the game that not many have. Brooke has the potential to move up our rankings very rapidly if she stays on her course. We cannot wait to see how she does in her high school varsity season.” Last month we profiled her once again and updated our readers on her high school season. In that article we said, “She has been nothing short of spectacular since she burst onto the scene for Brenham. She was one of the main reasons they went 19-6 overall and 10-4 in district. The Cubbettes also had a deep run into the UIL State Playoffs due to her play. In only two years on varsity she has amassed a whopping 715 kills, hit an impressive .333 percentage, had 66 blocks, 89 aces, and 621 digs. This young lady will obliterate the record books by the time she is done with her high school career. We will be updating on her Woodlands Revolution club season soon. College coaches already have her on their radar and I’m sure that list is growing for her as they watch what she can do. The scary part for her opponents is that she is only going to get better with more experience. Watch closely as she shoots up our rankings soon.” We were not wrong about shooting up the rankings. When we analyzed the growth that she is showing from year to year and even from school season to club season, the growth is phenomenal. We are excited to see what her and her Woodlands Revolution squad will do in Vegas as they have recently qualified for USA Nationals this summer. Please help us congratulate her on moving up to be one of the top 17 volleyball players in the State of Texas.
Madisyn Jones Madisyn Jones 5'9" | S Fredericksburg | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-8 Setter (HS: Boerne/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We are truly excited about the jump that Madisyn has made in the rankings. She has catapulted into the 29th position from being originally ranked as the 48th best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She is currently listed as the 5th best setter in the state. We wrote a few articles on her already and here is a little from them, “As a setter, the ball comes off of her hands so smoothly in all locations along the net. She utilizes her Jump-set very effectively to keep the defense off-balance. She has great upper body control while setting which helps her location be extremely accurate. She plays club for a very impressive Alamo program who is nationally known and she runs that show as well. Last year as a Freshman, she earned District 28-4A Newcomer of the Year, Academic All-District, Prep Volleyball Frosh59-Honorable Mention, and Academic All-District. You will be hearing her name a lot in the coming years. We are happy to report that Madisyn just passed a great milestone in her young volleyball career as she surpassed the 1,200 career assist mark as just a sophomore. She has some incredible stats as she has 374 digs, 82 kills as a setter, and 70 aces. This kid is going to obliterate the record books at Boerne if she continues on this streak for the next two years.” In our last update we wrote another article on her and we stated,“We love when the players prove their rankings with their court play. Miss Jones definitely did that this season and that is a big reason why she moved up four spots in the State Rankings. She led Boerne to a great 19-5 overall record and a 6-2 district record. She was also recognized as a 4A TGCA All State team member. The club season just started and her Alamo team just won the 210 Classic Tournament. If she stays on the course that she is on, there is no doubt that she will continue to rise.” Once again we called this one in our last update. She has consistently outdone herself from season to season with learning more and applying that knowledge on the court. One thing we love as sports enthusiasts is consistency. Miss Jones and her club teammates have been consistently one of the best teams in their age group and this club season is proving it even more. The jump to the 16’s age group usually separates the girls from the women as players get bigger, faster, and stronger getting ready to go into their junior year. Madisyn showed that she belongs with the best as she leads this team to glory with her setting the table for her hitters to eat. Please congratulate her on the movement she has earned in our State Rankings.
Ariana Brown Ariana Brown 5'11" | OH Conroe | 2023 State TX [2023] 5-11 Outside (HS: Klein/Club: Willowbrook/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We are happy to announce that Ariana has moved up a couple of spots from being ranked as the 39th to the 36th best prospect in the 2023 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. In our last updated when we first introduced her as a State Ranked player we stated, “Miss Brown earned Newcomer of the District last season as a freshman and she followed it up with a great showing this season including a 12 kill, 11 dig and two block performance in the UIL 6A State Championship match a few weeks ago. She plays club ball for Willowbrook out of the north Houston area. Ariana is a heavy powerful attacker with an arm that brings the heat on the pins according to her high school coach. I’ve watched her play and she’s right. This kid has an absolute cannon on the left side. Klein is losing a few top tier seniors but is reloading with Miss Brown at the helm. She is primed to take over for the next few years. We think she can be a big star and we will be watching very closely on her progress on the court. She will undoubtedly move up the rankings in the future if she keeps up the hard work. Stay tuned to see the fireworks from her this club season.” We are super excited about her ceiling as she can be one of the most explosive players in the age group if she stays on the course that she is currently on. Her Willowbrook coaches are excited about her and so are we. She had a breakout season at Klein this past year. She rose up to a leading role and had 336 kills on 789 attempts and hit a very impressive .264 as a sophomore as Klein went on a tear toward the UIL 6A State Title match. With graduation, Klein will be looking forward to Ariana leading the charge to avenge the second place finish from last season. Her star is on the rise and we know she will answer that bell once the first whistle blows during her junior season. Please help us congratulate her on rising in our State Rankings.
