Continue ReadingWe are proud of our first update to the 2024 Class since our initial publishing in December. We have grown to 80 of the best athletes that this state has to offer and the following players have made some serious moves on the list. It is through their play during this past school and club season that has helped us decide who should be where on the rankings. We always say that it is not an exact science, however proving it on the court in their position always helps solidify the analysis. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Lauryn “Lolo” Lambert Lauryn “Lolo” Lambert 5'9" | OH Plano East Senior | 2024 State #20 Nation TX [2024] 5-8 Outside (HS: Bishop Lynch/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We are proud to announce that Lauryn has moved up the rankings to now be listed as the 4th best prospect overall and the 2nd best outside in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. When we first introduced her in December we stated the following “While she might not be prototypical outside height yet, (she’s only a freshman and will likely hit another growth spurt) Miss Lambert plays well above the net due to her great 26 inch vertical. LoLo is someone you immediately notice if you walk by her court due to her dynamic athleticism and raw power. Her amazing offensive arsenal has been on full display this year as she starred for her Bishop Lynch varsity program and also for her Dallas Skyline club team now that tournaments have started. She can hit on both pins and scores at will on both out of serve receive. Watching her move the ball around so easily shows me that she has a very high volleyball IQ and will be a kill leader on any team she plays for. She has all of the tools to move up the rankings in the future due to her desire to excel and her competitiveness.”We knew all it would take was more time for her to prove that she is one of the best in her age group in the state. We were able to see how skilled she is all around the court. What really surprised us this club season was her back row/ball control against some of the best competition in the nation. We will continue to watch her progress closely and will be profiling her a lot in the future. IF you don’t know the name LoLo….you will soon. Please help us congratulate her on moving up to be one of the top four volleyball players in the State of Texas.
Cayley Hanson Cayley Hanson 6'2" | S Deer Park | 2024 State #43 Nation TX [2024] 6-2 Setter (HS: Deer Park/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We are proud to announce that Cayley has made the biggest jump out of all of the 2024’s. She was originally ranked as the 47th best overall prospect in the 2024 Class but has since jumped thirty-one spots to now be ranked as the 16th best overall prospect and the 2nd best setter in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We wrote an article on her last month when we first introduced our awesome readers to Cayley. In that article we stated the following, “Miss Hansen plays high school for Deer Park with is in South East Houston and also club for the famed Houston Skyline club program. She is a tall drink of water who has been recognized by the AVCA Phenom List for 2021. She has already earned 1stTeam All District and Newcomer of the Year as a freshman at Deer Park. She is also an accomplished swimmer as she was a 2016 State Swim Finalist in backstroke. We fully believe that she has all of the tools to move up the rankings when we update them soon. She has no trouble pushing the ball across the court during out of system plays against the flow of the pass. Cayley can set all quick tempo sets and is an accomplished attacker also as she is able to hit on the left side and right side pin with ease. We are excited to have her in the Prep Dig Family and are excited to watch her progress on the court.” We spent a lot of time analyzing her skill set and every time we watched, we noticed something new about her potential. Yes, size does help, however it is what you do with that size that separates the good from the great. What stands out the most is that she is multi-talented. She is a great setter and there are a ton of setters who also hit front row. However, not many setters stay front row to hit on the LEFT SIDE PIN! That alone should tell you just how legit she is. She does it at a high level against some of the best talent in the nation. We believe that her ceiling is super high and with a staff like the one at Houston Skyline to help her, she will only keep improving. Please help us congratulate her on the wonderful achievement of moving up the rankings.
Reese Emerick Reese Emerick 5'9" | DS/L Westlake | 2024 State #33 Nation TX [2024] 5-8 Libero (HS: Austin Westlake/Club: Austin Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
We are proud to announce that Reese is now ranked as the 21st top overall prospect and 3rd best libero in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She was originially ranked as the 37th top prospect and has made a huge jump. When we profiled her last we said,“Reese is a gifted player from the Austin area. She plays for Westlake on their varsity squad and also for the great Austin Juniors volleyball club. Westlake has a great libero in the making in this young lady so they can continue their dominance in their district that they have had for a while now. She already had 195 digs for them and 15 aces in her freshman season. She made the 26-6A newcomer of the year this past season. Miss Emerick is a stud in the libero position and plays with so much passion. She will be moving up the rankings for sure in our next update as we saw her show out on Varsity. Her defensive range is superb and once you match that with her tenacity to sprawl out while in pursuit of the ball, you have a recipe for an outstanding libero. She is one of the best in the 2024 class for sure and we will be watching her career unfold very closely. College coaches should be looking at this young lady right this second as her touch on the ball is second to none.” When we watched more closely we saw some aspects of play that stood out over and over. Her tenacity on the court is infectious and we love the way she plays the game. Reese can cover her hitters with the best liberos in the country. I know we talked about her touch on the ball in the last article, however it is something that will be talked about each time we profile her. It is that good. Usually it takes years to develop touch like that, but this young lady has a great baseline to start out with. We are excited to see her future. Please help us congratulate her on the wonderful achievement of moving up the rankings.
