Any tournament for the 15s provides a unique opportunity to watch players in the early stages of their development and it’s always exciting to notice how much potential these young athletes have to develop in their careers.
PrepDig.com was there and took note of each of the 14 teams that competed in the tournament and now we’re taking the week to provide our reports and highlight the prospects that stood out.
We now look at the middle blockers that got the job done at the net.
Brooklyn Alexander – Texas Outlaws 15 Black – HS: Channelview – 2024
Brooklyn Alexander’s physicality stands out every time she works at the net. The 5’10” middle blocker is not only tall and long but also fast and very active at the net. She’s got a great blocking game and showed impressive quickness to react to overpasses and put them down without giving a chance to opponents. On offense, she can hit a variety of sets and is particularly effective when coming from the setter’s back.
Madison Presley – Texas Tornados 15 Black – HS: Cypress Woods – 2024
Madison Presley looks a lot taller than her 5’8” frame when at the net. She’s a very dynamic middle blocker and a prospect that plays an important role for Texas Tornados 15 Black on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she’s not only reliable but also a player who can hit a variety of different sets and send the ball in any direction – she’s lethal on the slide set. When blocking, Presley knows how to make her presence felt with a superior reading of the game and quick lateral movement. She also seems to be very coachable as was spotted discussing details of her game with coaches quite a few times.
Brenna Casler – Spike Sport Black – HS: Fort Bend Kempner – 2024
Brenna Casler was the centerpiece of Spike Sport Black’s playing system during the tournament. Very long, fast and athletic, she dominated the net with a strong offensive game and her good blocking technique. She’s the type of player that’s always focused on the next point and what sets her apart from most middle blockers is the fact that she has a very solid backcourt game and is not replaced by a libero when she’s not at the net.
