Any tournament for the 15s provides a unique opportunity to watch players in the early stages of their development and it’s always exciting to notice how much potential these young athletes have to develop in their careers.
PrepDig.com was there and took note of each of the 14 teams that competed in the tournament and now we’re taking the week to provide our reports and highlight the prospects that stood out.
Setters are up next and these are the ones who left a great impression last weekend.
Skylar Herring – AVB 15 Royal – 2024
Skylar Herring has a great volleyball skill set, which includes impressive quickness, a good serving ability and an efficient defensive game, but what really sets her apart is the pace she runs her team’s offense. Herring is not afraid of takings risks to put her hitter in the best possible spot and she played really fast, a lot faster than any other setter in the event, with her middles and also pin hitters. She was really accurate for someone who plays that fast and played a central role in AVB 15 Royal’s great campaign.
Hannah Bartlett – Diggin VBA 15 Black – 2024
Always calm and composed on the court, Hannah Bartlett did a great job in leading Diggin VBA 15 Black’s offense during the tournament. A left-handed setter, she ran a steady and balanced offense, using all of her hitters smartly and varying her sets quite often. Bartlett also brings some other skills to the table as her good size for a setter and a tricky serve.
Savannah Ware – Texas Tornados 15 Black – HS: Cinco Ranch – 2024
Savannah Ware showed she’s got all the tools to be a great setter. Even though she was mostly used coming off the bench, Ware managed to make a great impact in matches with her great touch on the ball and intelligent distribution. She had a good size to play at the net at 5’8” and is also capable of causing some damage from the service line. She’s very calm when on the ball and her backsets are normally perfect.
