Continue ReadingWe bring our attention back to the 2021 class as we have a few players that we would like to update our readers on. They have just finished their senior seasons in both high school and club and we would like to give them the props they deserve. They are all signed to play volleyball at the next level but before they leave to college we wanted to showcase them one more time and update our readers on all of their stats and accolades. Here they are:
Leah Stolfus Leah Stolfus 6'1" | MB Denton | 2021 State TX [2021] 6-1 Middle (HS: Denton/Club: Texas Pistols/Verbal: Texas A&M Corpus Christi)
Leah is currently ranked as the 51st best volleyball player in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig rankings. We profiled her last fall before her senior season and here is a little from the article, “Miss Stolfus is a fantastic middle blocker who is a great offensive scorer for both her high school and club teams. She plays for Denton High and a great Texas Pistols club team. She is impressive on the front row for her ability to hit all tempos in multiple zones. She has starred for her varsity team since she burst on to the scene as a youngster. They have dominated their district over the last few years and she is a big reason why. I love how strong she is while reaching at the peak of her swing. She is able to put so much power behind her swing while hitting both cut and cut back. Her ability to control her upper body while in mid-air allows her to turn on the ball at will and score away from the block. We have one more year to watch this seasoned scorer tear it up before she heads to play at A&M Corpus Christi.” We watched as she helped Denton go 20-4 overall and 12-2 in district for her senior season. In four years she was able to tally 696 kills, hit a career .335 hitting percentage, 199 blocks and 7 aces. Her junior volleyball career has been riddled with awards and accolades. As a young players she has been named MVP of Denton High and also 1st Team All District for multiple years of her high school career. She is leaving a legacy that cannot be ignored and will be very difficult to replace. We are proud to have had her in our rankings and wish her the best in her college career.
Courtney Aulbaugh Courtney Aulbaugh 5'3" | DS/L Cy-Fair | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-5 Libero (HS: Cy Fair/Club: Houston Juniors/Verbal: UT San Antonio)
Courtney is currently ranked as the 82nd top prospect in the State of Texas according to our State Rankings. We profiled her last fall before her senior season and here is a little from the article, “She is a great libero from the famed Houston Juniors volleyball club. She is able to play both middle back and left back defense. As a coach what I love about her play the most is how low she keeps her posture throughout the entire play until it is over. She has been coached very well and you can tell by how well she covers her hitters. She knows exactly where to go and she does it like clockwork every single time no matter which position she is playing in the back row. This shows her intelligence as a player. Courtney is able to handle hard driven attacks very well due to how far she keeps her arms away from her body. This allows her to cushion the ball easily. She plays in a very tough Cy district in the north west Houston area. UTSA is getting a coachable player in Miss Aulbaugh next year.” She helped Cy Fair go 19-9 overall and 12-3 in district during her senior season. In two years at Cy Fair, she was able to accumulate 481 digs, 432 service receptions, and also had 93 aces. She was able to have a wonderful junior volleyball career both at Houston Juniors and at Cy Fair and we are excited to cheer her on next season at UTSA. We are proud to have had her on our State Rankings at Prep Dig.
Brenda Holland Brenda Holland 5'10" | OH Keller-Saginaw | 2021 State TX [2021] 5-10 Outside (HS: International Leadership of Texas/Club: Eagle Mountain/ Verbal: Arkansas Fort Smith)
Brenda is currently ranked as the 72nd best player in the 2021 class according to our State Rankings. We profiled her last fall before her senior season and here is a little from the article, “She plays a small club called Eagle Mountain. This young lady can do it all on a volleyball court. She can hit, serve, block, pass and dig. She is extremely athletic and has excellent range in every position. She moves so fluid on the court with her astonishing footwork. She shows great skill in the ability to hit out of every position on the front row. While you cannot pigeon-hole her into only one position on the court, she definitely excels as a hitter. She has a great ability to control her attack with both power and grace. She scores well with both hard driven attacks and soft off-speed shots all over the court. Stay tuned for more fireworks from this young lady as she gets ready for the college game in one year.” We were able to watch her do extremely well during her 18’s year at EMV. She played a lot out of the middle and was able to be very effective for their offense. Brenda routinely hit both over and around opposing middles to score. What makes her special is her ability to play multiple positions for her club team. It takes avery special player to be able to change positions and be ok with it. It just shows how “coachable” of a player she really is. Arkasas Fort Smith is going to love that aspect of her play next season.
