As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 70 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.
During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.
Flyers 15 APX-Jeff
One of two teams from the Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club to compete in the age group, 15 APX-Jeff will appear in the 15 American division in Las Vegas. The team led by head coach Jeff Dool has been putting up great numbers to an excellent season as they won 41 of the 51 matches they played at in 2021. The team’s highlights include their victory at the Northeast Qualifier, in which they went 10-0 without dropping a set, and their second-place finish at the Sunshine Volleyball Classic.

Players to Watch
Allie Duitsman – Outside Hitter – HS: Prosper – 2024
Allie Duitsman came up big when the team most needed her by guiding Flyers 15 APX-Jeff to victory at the Northeast Qualifier with her great all-around game. A 5’6” outside hitter, Duitsman can do-it-all on a volleyball court and is only scratching the surface of her potential as a player. She’s part of one of the strong high school programs in the state in Prosper and will certainly grow there as well.
Elizabeth McCarley – Libero – HS: Cobb Middle – 2024
Elizabeth McCarley does a great job in providing Flyers 15 APX-Jeff with some defensive stability. The 5’6” libero goes above and beyond to deliver more than good passing and digging to her team as she’s also an outstanding server, who scores a lot of points and gets teams out-of-system from the service line. McCarley is very technical and can also play as an outside hitter if needed.

Mary Jane McCurdy – Outside Hitter – HS: Liberty – 2024
Mary Jane ‘MJ’ McCurdy also did a phenomenal job during the Northeast Qualifier. A 5’9” outside hitter, she’s more well-versed on offense and oftentimes carries the team’s scoring load. But MJ also plays a big role in the team’s defensive and passing efforts with her superior technique.
