As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 50 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.
During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.
SA Juniors 16 Adidas
Part of the San Antonio Juniors Volleyball Club, 16 Adidas will head to Las Vegas to compete in the 16 USA division. The group of players led by head coach Jennifer Montoya has already experienced some level of success this season by winning the Tour of Texas Qualifier for the San Antonio-Austin area, finishing third at the Sunshine Volleyball Classic and fifth at the FAST Warm Up. There have been 35 wins and 18 losses for SA Juniors 16 Adidas so far in the season.

Jenna Garza Jenna Garza 5'7" | S SA O'Connor | 2023 State TX – Setter – HS: Sandra Day O’Connor – 2023
Having a great setter is something every team could take advantage of and SA Juniors 16 Adidas are more than fine in that department with Jenna Garza Jenna Garza 5'7" | S SA O'Connor | 2023 State TX . Ranked 113th on our 2023 Prep Dig State Rankings, the 5’7” Garza does a great job in running the team’s offense. She has a great touch on the ball but, most importantly, two traits that you’ll find in elite setter which are the willingness to make an extra effort to get the best possible set and the self-discipline to not go with the easiest option when out-of-system. Garza also adds in other areas of the game such as serving and digging.
Thank you Colorado Crossroads…lots of great competition in the 16 Open Division! Next up TOT Finals in Dallas this weekend! See you there. @CoachMikeDZ @PrepDigTX @SAJuniorsVB @sydneybarber19 @Kriziaperez23 pic.twitter.com/0IU0l6vAKv

Alyssa Rodriguez Alyssa Rodriguez 5'6" | OH Brandeis | 2023 TX – Outside Hitter – HS: Brandeis – 2023
Alyssa Rodriguez Alyssa Rodriguez 5'6" | OH Brandeis | 2023 TX is one of those players who make their teammates better. A 5’6” outside hitter, she has big responsibilities with SA Juniors 16 Adidas’ passing and defensive systems, two key areas of the team’s game. Her limited size might fool people into thinking she won’t be such a factor at the net but that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. Rodriguez has an impressive leaping ability and a high volleyball IQ that helps her always making the right decisions at the net. She ranks 122nd on our 2023 Prep Dig State Rankings.
Sydney Barber – Right Sider – HS: Antonian College Prep – 2023
Sydney Barber’s size and physicality play a big role in SA Juniors 16 Adidas’ offense. The towering 6’3” player has mostly been used as a right sider, where she can make the most of her tremendous reach and heavy arm. Barber still has a long way to go in terms of improving her technique and her athleticism but the fact that she can already be so impactful makes her potential really intriguing.
