As many as 728 teams are expected to compete in the 15 divisions for these three age groups and the state of Texas will, of course, be well-represented in the tournament with more than 70 teams expected to make the trip to Nevada.
During the next few weeks, we’ll use this space to present the Lone Star state representatives in the tournament, recapping their performances during the club season and highlighting some of their top prospects.
Tejas 16 Black
One of two teams from the Tejas Volleyball Club from North Texas to qualify to Las Vegas, 16 Black will compete in the 16 USA division. The team led by head coach Kevin Anderson has secured 36 wins and 21 losses so far in the season and has as its best results the victory at the Nike Mideast Qualifier and the third-place finish at the Tour of Texas.

Players to Watch
Ryan Henderson – Libero – HS: Horn – 2023
Ryan Henderson is tireless when it comes to keeping the ball up in the air in Tejas 16 Black’s backcourt. The 5’6” libero is one of the most influential players in the squad because of her technical and efficient game that makes everyone around her better. Henderson has great ball control and the level of confidence that only the special players have. She’s not one to get too worried about mistakes as she quickly moves on to the next play.
Mya Black – Right Sider/Middle Blocker – HS: Lewisville – 2023
Mya Black’s 6’1” frame and her impressive physicality make of her a real threat anywhere on the net. She’s typically used on the right side, where she uses her immense power to swing across the net. Black’s impressive reach and her ability to put power on the ball make her be extremely efficient in off-the-net sets. She can also hit different angles and seems to always find an open spot on the court.
Maggie Cox – Outside Hitter – HS: Flower Mound – 2023
A long and athletic outside hitter, Maggie Cox brings a lot to the time when it comes to helping Tejas 16 Black. The 5’10” prospect has a central role in the team’s passing and defensive systems and also adds a lot of firepower to the team’s offense. Cox is efficient when hitting in system or in transition and she’s one of those players who rarely makes mistakes.
