Coaches, if you are looking for middles and you haven’t already added these athletes to your recruiting wish list, then you need to take a serious look because I’ve seen these ladies play recently, and they are going to be having some interesting conversations in the very near future!

– 2023 – 5’10 – Middle Blocker – Whitnall – Milwaukee Sting 16 Black
At first, Klumb might look undersized compared to some of her opposing counterparts across the net from her. Her lateral speed, assortment of attack options from a number of routes from the middle, and capability to beat any size middle across from her. Most top middles from Wisconsin are over 6 feet, but Klumb has speed and quick-twitch reactions and can do more than her taller opponents.

, as her setter, she really finds a groove and terminates from anywhere on the net. She can block just about everyone who swings against her, and her improvement over the past year has exploded. Coached in high school by Lauren Pfiefer, former UW-Whitewater player, her progress has been steady and it won’t be long before her phone is ringing off the hook.

– 2023 – 6’2 – Middle Blocker – Edgewood – Capital 16 Adidas
Schmotzer is lengthy but fast and explosive when she runs a slide. She has such a soft tip that it dribbles off the blocker’s hands. Schmotzer is very athletic and has a super high ceiling. She is a steady, calm player who doesn’t have real highs or lows but just takes care of business.
When Schmotzer gets on top of the ball she can pound whether she is running a route in front or behind the setter. She transitions quickly, and if she doesn’t beat her defender with speed, she can typically hit over them. If you need a blocker, she has a long wingspan that takes up a lot of space. I would not be surprised if she gets picked up quickly.

– 2023 – 6’3 – Middle Blocker – De Pere – FC Elite 16 Navy
Lasee is training at one of the best clubs in Wisconsin, and her high school has got some real firepower on their roster. We’ve seen Lasee’s listed height vary from 6’-6’3, but as far as I’m concerned, her explosiveness and volleyball IQ are what keep her as a leading recruit in the 2023 class of middle blockers. She showed off her ability to put up a huge block as well as take a heavy swing. Lasee has a very long reach and has the ability to hit over most blocks

– 2023 – 6’1 – Middle Blocker – DSHA – Milwaukee Sting 16 Black
In the heart of Milwaukee is where you’ll find Lipski, who is trained in high school by Caitie Ratkowski and in club by former Wisconsin Lutheran College coach, Bruce Meredith. She is lengthy, quick, and hits over a lot of blockers. I wouldn’t be surprised if her phone started getting busy on June 15th. She is definitely getting better each time she steps on the floor and the best is yet to come.
