A lot of emphasis is normally put on the upperclassmen for their expertise and strong knowledge of the game, but in region 4, there needs to be a spotlight on these talented underclassmen! Here’s four girls that will make big waves for their school in the upcoming year.

Amirra Bailey- Many probably haven’t seen this name yet but should probably take note of this stud! An 8th grader from Bowling Green High School, Amirra Bailey is expected to start varsity as a 6’2 hitter. Bailey may only be 13 years old, but she plays way tougher and stronger than most girls her age. Her potential is through the roof because of her athleticism and quick learning skills. She may be a young gun now, but once she gains some varsity experience and playing time, this middle hitter will be unstoppable!

[player_tooltip player_id="128189" first="Jada" last="Knight"]- An incoming sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id="128189" first="Jada" last="Knight"] will return for her second year at Warren East High School and continue to be the starting setter. Knight is having a fantastic club volleyball year with BRAVO where she’ll lead her squad in Orlando at nationals. Her calm demeanor in tight situations makes her a great setter. Knight will only get better as the school year comes around, so make sure to keep an eye on this one!

Jordan Gilliam- Another incoming sophomore, Jordan Gilliam plays for South Warren High School and will help her school team at the varsity level this year. Gilliam’s athleticism and just natural ability for the sport sets her aside from most volleyball players. This girl can play at any position which makes her a vital part of the team. Right now, Jordan participates in sand tournaments which will inevitably help her indoor game even more. Gilliam will be a fun player to watch this year.

[player_tooltip player_id="128204" first="Aubrey" last="Packer"]- A returning starter for the Greenwood Gators, [player_tooltip player_id="128204" first="Aubrey" last="Packer"] played at the middle position in 2020. She was a go to hitter for the Gators not only because of her height but her strong ability to place the ball wherever she wanted. Packer is extremely smart for her age and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes which allows her to compete at an elite level. With the loss of [player_tooltip player_id="68078" first="Katie" last="Howard"] for the Gators, it will be interesting to see how and where Greenwood uses Packer’s effective hitting and blocking skills!
