High School Previews: UIL 3A – The Outside Hitters Who Can Score

<p>It will be a quick turnaround for young volleyball players in the state of Texas. Shortly after one month from the conclusion of the club season, these prospects will be back on the courts again representing their high schools.</p> <p>It will be exciting to see some well-known names establishing themselves even more in the Lone Star state volleyball scene and some new faces breaking through and quickly emerging to earn the spaces.</p> <p>Between now and the start of the high school season, at the beginning of August, we’ll highlight some players we believe are worth your attention when teams get back on the gym. Our discussion remains centered on the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 3A Division and these outside hitters are among the ones that deserve a few words.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong> </strong><strong>Graycee Mosley – HS: Troy – Club: Waco Juniors – 2022</strong></p> <p>Few players can match Graycee Mosley when it comes to scoring points. The 5’9” outside hitter is a scoring machine and an offensive reference for her high school team Troy with her explosiveness and versatility at the net. In three seasons with the Trojans, she has registered 1,263 kills, 570 of which in 2020. She was brilliant in other aspects of her game last season too, tallying 312 digs, 355 passes and 69 aces on her way to be part of the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State team as a second-team selection.</p> <p><iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/11323204/5fbf366f5b3d55098c4583c6" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="87517" first="Sydney" last="Kroll"] – HS: Poth – Club: Team Red – 2022</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="87517" first="Sydney" last="Kroll"] is a very versatile player who typically play as an outside hitter for her high school Poth but can also be used as a middle blocker or a right sider at the net. What makes the 5’11” Kroll have the ability to switch between positions is her great all-around game. She is a factor at the net with her speed and power, either hitting or blocking, but is also extremely capable with her passing and digging. Ranked 53^rd on our 2022 Prep Dig State Rankings, Kroll made it to the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State second team.</p> <p><iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/11311720/5f7a310c02b1430130f8bb3b" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="140393" first="Riley" last="Braziel"] – HS: Boyd – Club: Muscle Volleyball – 2022</strong></p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="140393" first="Riley" last="Braziel"] is another extremely talented outside hitter from the class of 2022 to play in the UIL 3A division. The 5’9” outside hitter is a very technically gifted player and uses all of her skills to help the team either at the backcourt or at the net. Her great reading of the game and ability to send the ball wherever she wants make her impressively efficient when hitting in transition. Another Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State second team member, Braziel has committed to the Ouachita Baptist University.
