There was plenty of wow factors and high profile prospects at the Prep Dig Sizzle. Going in,we knew there were a lot of college commits and flashy players, but it was the steady, consistent, and dependable players who made a big impression on me. These were the players you could count on to make the 1st contact, set in the clutch, and scoring exactly when their team needed it the most. These players don’t always get the glory or the celebration because they are the players who make it possible for the big plays to happen. These are the Behind The Scenes players that make it possible for their team to put on a big show.

[player_tooltip player_id="81256" first="Aspen" last="Jankowski"] – 2022 – 5’9 – Setter/Outside Hitter – Cedarburg (Committed to Arkansas Tech)

Jankowski has developed into one of the strongest utility players you can find. She has the first-contact ball control, ability and savvy as a setter, and a fierce swing with a plethora of shots to go along with it. Jankowski brings consistency to the court where she is cool, calm, and collected in any situation.

Jenna Placek – 2022 – 5’8 – Middle Blocker - Mosinee

Mosinee graduated some really key pieces in 2021, but they also have a very experienced 2022 class to step into those leadership roles, including Placek. She is really efficient out of the middle with a high volleyball IQ in common middle situations. Placek knows how to work angles for Mosinee, and with the blockers watching setter [player_tooltip player_id="149603" first="Alexis" last="Jonas"] to attack and Jessica Maurer on the pin, Placek and her usual counterpart, [player_tooltip player_id="118260" first="Abbi" last="Martin"], should be able to score points.

Ashley Hutter – 2025 – Libero - Pewaukee

Hutter gets a touch on just about everything, and she makes a solid first contact whether it is serve-receive or on defense. She releases in anticipation when the setter takes the first ball and makes a great 2nd contact. Pewaukee has some really talented players and their attackers will get a lot of opportunities because of solid passing.

[player_tooltip player_id="82282" first="Saige" last="Damrow"] – 2023 – 5’8 – Libero/Outside Hitter – Howards Grove (Committed to Wisconsin)

Damrow is a solid all-around player for the Tigers. They have a lot of options in the libero position, but luckily all their bros can take a wicked swing as well. As they were giving OIlivia Baierl a shot on the outside, Damrow commanded the back court. She made everything look routine and kept their squad in- system.

[player_tooltip player_id="81283" first="Tatum" last="Kebisek"] – 2022 – 5’9 – Setter – Brookfield Central

Brookfield Central made a major statement at the Sizzle with some key wins on day 1, as well as winning their pool on day 2 to take on Appleton North in the bracket championship. They have 2 major swings, but Kebisek setting was the bridge between the first contact and those big hitters getting a good swing on the ball. She was able to dish and deliver with a range of tempos, and the Lancers are definitely a team that had a few question marks that may have been figured out at the Sizzle. If they can find a way to get that solid first contact, they could make some big waves this season.
