Continue ReadingWe are proud of our first update to the 2024 Class since our initial publishing in December. We have grown to 96 of the best athletes that this state has to offer and the following players have made some serious moves on the list. It is through their play during this past school and club season that has helped us decide who should be where on the rankings. We always say that it is not an exact science, however proving it on the court in their position always helps solidify the analysis. We will be profiling players who were previously ranked in the state, but through great play, they made some serious moves up the rankings. Without further ado, here are a few players who moved up:
Macy McPartland Macy McPartland 5'5" | DS/L Rosehill Christian | 2024 State TX [2024] 5-5 Libero (HS: Bridgeland/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Please welcome Macy to the 2024 Prep Dig State Rankings. We have moved her up one spot and now have her ranked as the 18th best overall prospect and also the 2nd best libero in the 2024 class. Macy plays for Bridgeland High School and also for the highly touted Houston Skyline Volleyball club out of the Houston area. We and here is a little from the article, “She is a very talented libero who is dominating with her club team this season. There are those defensive specialist/liberos who excel at serve receive and those that excel at digging. Macy is a special one that can do it all. What stands out immediately to the casual observer is her relentless pursuit of the ball. You see it in other sports like football when you have a linebacker or defensive lineman who just always seems to have a “nose for the ball” meaning they are always around the tackle to end the play. Miss McPartland is the same way as she is always around the ball whether in serve receive, defense, or hitter coverage. This showcases her great court vision and amazing footwork that work perfectly together to put her in a great position to play the game that we all played when we were little…”don’t let the balloon touch the floor”. She routinely comes out of nowhere to use an emergency technique to keep the ball in play and give her team a much needed boost to stay in the rally. She is so much fun to watch. We think coaches should keep an eye on this one as we think she is special and definitely has a future in the sport. We want to welcome her with open arms to our State Ranking List and can’t wait to watch her progress in the future. We are super excited to cover her for the next couple of years.” After studying each player in our rankings for hours and hours, my mind keeps coming back to players like Macy because of how she makes you love defense after watching her highlights. We love her tenacity as she has no regard for her body when she sprawls all over the ground for her team. She has the drive to keep moving up the rankings and we are super excited to have her in our State Rankings. Please congratulate her on being named one of the best players in the state of Texas.
Alice Volpe Alice Volpe 5'5" | DS/L Bridgeland | 2024 State #83 Nation TX [2024] 5-3 Libero (HS: Bridgeland/Club: Houston Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Alice has moved up the rankings in this update. She goes from being listed as the 36th best prospect to the 30th best overall player in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. We wrote about her a few times already and here is alittle to remind you of what we said about her previously, “Miss Volpe is a fantastic libero from the Houston area. She is the daughter of Rice University Head Volleyball coach Genny Volpe and plays high school for Bridgeland HS and also club for Houston Juniors . She also plays on the beach circuit with her teammates at Houston Juniors and is a stud there too. It takes a great athlete in order to excel in both sports and it truly shows her ball control abilities in the sand. Her footwork is truly amazing during indoor volleyball and she is always properly balanced during contact. Her long legs help her ball pursuit and aid in her strong ability to cushion contact while she collapses on the dig. This is one reason why her contact on hard driven balls is so soft.” Miss Volpe star is on the rise as she keeps getting better and better each time she steps on the court. We love her ball control and think her ceiling is ridiculously high for improvement over the next few years. I would put her footwork against any defensive player in the class. We think she could move up in the rankings very soon. We are excited to cover her for the future and can’t wait to see her progress. Please help us congratulate her on moving up the rankings.
Emma Converse Emma Converse 6'0" | OH Johnson | 2024 CO [2024] 6-0 Outside (HS: Johnson/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Emma has made the largest jump in the rankings in this update. She went from being ranked as the 58th best overall prospect to now being named the 37th best overall prospect in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays high school volleyball at Johnson High School and also club for Alamo out of the San Antonio area. When we last profiled her we stated , “Emma has already burst onto the scene at her high school as a freshman last year and helping with 109 kills, 8 blocks, and 14 digs. She is primed and ready for a stellar sophomore season against some serious competition in the San Antonio area. She also was able to make the 2021 Under Armour All American Watch list due to her play this past season. She helped her Alamo club team to a birth in the USA Girls Junior Nationals this summer. If you haven’t seen her yet, make a note to check her out the next time you stroll by her court as she is the real deal offensively. She has every chance to move up the rankings soon.” And boy did she make a serious move. We were astonished every time we went back and forth between old video and new to see the improvements. This young lady has some serious firepower in her arms. She has every chance to break some records at Johnson high school by the time she is done. The scary part about her is that she is just getting her high school career started. Please help us congratulate her on the wonderful achievement of moving up the rankings again.
