Dells and Sun Prairie Tournaments Bring Top Commits, Prospects

Opening weekend is always exciting with some teams starting to make their statement, everyone tweaking lineups, and the wins and losses for teams are not always determined by the final score of the match. I’m taking a closer look at the top player playing at the Dells as well as Sun Prairie this weekend. Athletes who are committed to the next level already with others who will be on the radar heading into this next school year.   Committed [player_tooltip player_id="81257" first="Sydney" last="Lewellin"] - Lake Mills Committed to East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania Dells Friendship Tournament [player_tooltip player_id="81257" first="Sydney" last="Lewellin"] has always been the setter who puts plenty of pressure on the defense. She likes to run a quick tempo where she can get all of her attackers involved, remaining neutral with her hands which makes it tough for the defenders to read. She is a solid defensive player and has a left handed swing where she can jump set and swing at any point. A fundamentally all around player. She will head out East to East Stroudsburg University of PA which is NCAA D2.   [player_tooltip player_id="117342" first="Mara" last="Schmidt"] - Holmen Committed to Southern Miss (Beach) Dells Friendship Tournament One of the top beach players in the state, Schmidt’s beach game translates well to the indoor where she has a variety of shots from the outside and is extremely solid in the backrow with her passing, serve receive, and an attacking option from the backrow. They will have a dynamite matchup in Sun Prairie when they faceoff against Edgewood who will be another favorite in D2. Johnson runs the show for the Spartans and is a dynamic player at the net as well. Holshuh has been nursing an injury in her shoulder and will look to get back to full strength to add more power to the Spartan lineup. Barth is a dynamic athlete out of the middle where she can run multiple tempos while getting plenty of touches being quick from pin to pin. She always has a smooth release, will jump set to push the tempo, and defends her position extremely well. A future UMD Bulldog, Satori knows how to hit all the angles from the outside. She will take what the defense gives her, having great court vision. She is also key for their serve receive game as well.   [player_tooltip player_id="81310" first="Sienna" last="Roling"] - Sun Prairie Committed to Lee University Sun Prairie Tournament Roling will be heading to Lee University which is an NCAA D2 in Tennessee. She was a key piece to the Sun Prairie run to the D1 alternate semifinals earlier this spring. Holmen has an opening pool matchup with Lake Mills which will be one of the top matchups of the weekend.   [player_tooltip player_id="91910" first="Ally" last="Saleh"] - Waunakee Dells Friendship Tournament Saleh was a key player to the success of the Capital 16 Adidas team this past club season. She can play on either pin and will be a big time point scorer with her pop on the ball. Jeanquart has plenty of consistency and court savvy as a setter where she makes plenty of plays happen for her side. She is a really physical athlete who brings a lot of strength to the front row. Her left handed swing and big block makes for a tough matchup out of the middle and right side. An electric outside hitter as well as a dependable backrow player, she will be a favorite target for setter, [player_tooltip player_id="81273" first="Emma" last="Johnson"]. Two other attackers to watch for Lux-Casco will be [player_tooltip player_id="82915" first="Autumn" last="Flynn"] and Campbell Onell.   [player_tooltip player_id="91887" first="Addison" last="Schmotzer"] - Edgewood Sun Prairie Tournament Schmotzer is long and athletic where she can get from pin to pin to close the block. The middle combo between her and Barth will be a lethal combination. She will be a key part to the success of Edgewood where she provides an extra scoring spark and a major defensive presence.   [player_tooltip player_id="117336" first="Reese" last="Yocum"] - DeForest Sun Prairie Tournament Yocum brings plenty of experience to DeFo who will be looking to break through as one of the top teams in the Madison area. Yocum can play any of the front row positions and with her versatility, she can be utilized in multiple positions. She will be relied upon to score plenty of points this weekend. Pewaukee will be a favorite in their pool heading into the weekend. They have plenty of athleticism and know how to compete at a high level.
