Continue ReadingThe offers for our wonderful Texas players keep coming. We love to see the pictures and news of these players as they are achieving their dreams. We are proud to announce some news from the recruiting front. There are three more players who have just committed to college volleyball programs recently and we would like to share the news. These young ladies have been hard at work during the high school and club volleyball season and have been also hard at work on the recruiting scene getting offers from schools and have made their decisions. Help us in congratulating them on the amazing news.
Kelsi Wingo [2022] 5-9 Setter (HS: Barbers Hill/Club: Houston Stellar/Verbal: Blinn)
Kelsi is currently unrankedin the 2022 Class but is on our watch list. She is a fantastic setter for Barbers Hill High School and also for Houston Stellar. She is a very athletic and gifted quick-footed setter who tracks the ball down no matter where her passers deliver it to. She has a great knack for reading the pass before its even contacted from her passers. Great trainers her taught her how to set against flow and she is phenomenal at it as she routinely gives her hitters a one on one situation against a block. She and her Barbers Hill teammates have been a constant staple in the UIL playoffs for nineteen years straight and this year is no different. She has led them three straight district titles and barring a setback, they should be in line for a fourth straight one during her senior season. We are very pleased to announce that she recently chose to verbally commit to Blinn Junior College. Please congratulate her on her great accomplishment of playing at the next level. We look forward to covering her senior season this year.
Jordan Gamble Jordan Gamble 6'2" | MB Katy | 2022 State TX [2022] 6-2 Middle (HS: Katy/Club: Houston Skyline/Verbal: Northwestern State)
Jordan is currently ranked as the 37th best overall prospect and the 9thtop middle for the 2022 class in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. In our previous article we wrote the following, “The Katy High School middle is a force to be reckoned with. Standing at six foot two, she is a gamer. She excels at all levels and tempos regularly hitting a high tempo out of serve receive on the left and she scores at will there. She runs all quick tempos out of the middles as well and she does a great job with the timing. She hits with a lot of power right out of the setter’s hands. She is a true prototypical middle for a college program. I’m excited to cover her for the next couple of years. She has a bright future ahead of her. “ Jordan did not disappoint this past high school season as she helped her varsity Katy team to a wonderful 19-4 overall record and a 10-2 district record. In only two years on varsity, she has amassed 474 kills, hit a whopping .324 hitting percentage, and had 181 blocks. She is a true stopper at the net and takes up so much space against her opponents. She will truly help a college program in the future if someone takes notice now. She also plays for Skyline and they are one of the top teams in their age group. We have been following them closely and Jordan is doing great. We are watching her growth on the court and couldn’t be more proud of her. Stay tuned to see what she does next.” We definitely stayed tuned and were able to watch her team in person in the Open Division of USA Junior Nationals in Vegas this summer. She did not disappoint as we watched her amazing blocking abilities. One of the best aspects is how she patrols the net and even if she doesn’t get the block, she is able to scare the opposing attacker into hitting around her. We as coaches call this funneling the attack exactly where we are setting up our digger in the back row. Her transition game is one aspect that we know attracted NCAA division one college Northwestern State to come calling for her, as she is able to stop on a dime and drive hard toward her setter. She recently committed to their program and will be a great asset to their squad next year. In the meantime, her Katy team has a solid chance to be a contender this season and we will be watching closely. Please congratulate her on achieving her dream of playing at the next level.
Rylee Davis Rylee Davis 5'6" | S Madison | 2022 State TX [2022] 5-8 Setter (HS: Madison/Club: Alamo/Verbal: Bethune-Cookman University)
Miss Davis is currently ranked as the 38th best overall player and the 8th ranked setter in the state of Texas according to our Prep Dig Player Rankings. I have written a few articles on her and here is a little from the articles on Ry, “Rylee is a silky smooth and super strong setter from nationally known club Alamo Volleyball. She has been playing against top-level competition for a while now. This experience shows while she plays. She stays calm under pressure and has ball control for days. The ball just floats off of her hands so smooth right to target. When you watch her play, you can see the confidence in her every move on the court. It just exudes from her frame. There is not a set that she cannot produce on the court with precise location. She should be on every college coach’s list of setters to watch. There is no doubt that she should be on a NCAA Div 1 roster in a couple of years. She is primed to help lead Madison to dethrone Reagan and Churchill. And she is only getting better. Rylee is one of those rare young ladies that was born to play the game of volleyball. She is a very gifted athlete who can do it all on the court. There are many types of setters in the game and Rylee is one of the most athletic in the state. Her teammates love her and she is very focused when she plays.” We are proud to announce that she recently committed to play volleyball at NCAA division one Bethune-Cookman University. I spoke to Coach Brittany Williams who I have coached with way back in the day at summer camps in Houston and she is very excited to have Miss Davis committed to her program. They have a lot in common and I know it will be a great fit for Ry. We are lucky enough to get to cover this phenom for one more year during her senior season at Madison. Please help us congratulate her on achieving her dream of playing volleyball at the next level.
